He was a former Director of United Engineers (Malaysia) Berhad, RHB Bank Berhad and former Chairman of Renong Berhad, Projek Penyelenggaraan Lebuhraya Berhad, PLUS Expressways Berhad, Malaysian Institute of Economic Research, Manulife Holdings Berhad, Standard Chartered Bank Malaysia Berhad and Standard Chartered Saadiq Berhad. He was also a former President of the Malaysian Economic Association.
