With d finalizing of d MOU with GP Inc. soon, it wud probably shoot thru 3.50 and hit 4.00 b4 year-end. Do plan to stay w Karex for the short to medium term to maximize yr ROI.

Cweed, Karex has been bashed of late despite some good financials. I'm sure it has been forced down. Its time to allow it to regain its position up there. It has gained 7 cts w very low volume early tis morng and has stayed strongly there for most of d day till end of trading. Wat does tht tell us? Well said, member41. True Karex shareholders must b able to see its long term value. We must make short term sacrifices to reap its future value. Do u prefer 'roller-coaster' gains or sustainable gains? Surely it's d latter one, right? Then, we must persevere on and trust its management to continue doin a good job to create more value for d company in future.

However, no dividend is declared for d FY 2014.

I see tht d accounts summary is rather distorted as it is not comparing apple for apple. After looking thru d notes to accounts in Note B1 Page 10, revenue actually INCREASED 23.3% and NPBT INCREASED 50.6% yoy. So, it's actually not bad. Let's wait for d analysts' report later.

DJ Condom Maker Scores at Brazil's World Cup

The world's largest condom maker, Karex Bhd., is experiencing strong demand for its Brazil-themed output aimed at the World Cup soccer competition, as millions of its products have been snapped up by eager buyers.

The condoms, ordered by Washington-based nonprofit organization DKT International and distributed under the Prudence brand, are yellow and green, Brazil's national colors, and are flavored to taste like the country's signature cocktail, the Caipirinha.

Available only in Brazil, about 2.1 million units, or 700,000 packs of three, have been sold since they hit shelves in February, according to DKT International's director for Brazil operations, Daniel Marun. DKT promotes family planning and HIV prevention in developing countries.

The first delivery of 864,000 units sold out in 15 days, he said, noting that in a normal year, Brazil would use about one billion condoms.

The condoms retail for 3.15 reais ($1.39) per pack at major supermarkets and pharmacy chains nationwide. An additional batch of 864,000 condoms was distributed in Brazil this week, Mr. Marun said.

There are no conclusive studies showing that people have more sex during major sporting events, or that sex workers are more in demand. But that hasn't stopped condom marketeers from advertising during high-visibility sporting events.

Not all are opened and used, as they also make for good souvenirs.

"Major sports or cultural events attract a great number of people and garner much attention, providing a good opportunity to spread a pleasurable and fun safe-sex message," said Mr. Marun.

Karex's chief executive officer Goh Miah Kiat said his company's sales to Brazil have increased 25% by value so far this year, outpacing growth to other markets.

The Malaysia-based company has been supplying condoms to the Brazilian market for the last 15 years, but due to contractual confidentiality, Mr. Goh declined to name other companies that Karex has been working with.

According to research group Global Industry Analysts, the global market for condoms is expected to reach 44 billion units by 2020, due to increasing use for both family planning and for the prevention of sexually transmitted infections.

DKT Brazil isn't the only organization promoting safe sex during the World Cup. The United Nations Program on HIV/AIDS, or UNAIDS, has taken its "Protect the Goal" campaign to Brazil and is distributing 2 million condoms to soccer fans in the 12 World Cup host cities.

Speculators hoping that the World Cup might bolster rubber prices, which are down about 30% this year because of high supply and softening demand, will likely be disappointed.

As each condom weighs about 2 grams, demand from a large manufacturer like Karex for latex rubber used to make them runs to only thousands of tons a year, while annual output of natural rubber is about 11 million tons.

Cweed, I really cannot comprehend d mentality of majority of Karex share buyers. They think they hv managed to achieve a decent return by making a few cents here and there by selling out only to realize they need to buy in again at a higher price later. You see, these ppl r not seeing d bigger picture of investing in shares. All they r interested is in making small money and expecting Karex to deliver miracles all d time. Too bad, tht can't happen instantly without some holding power. They hv failed altogether to see d true value of Karex over time. It's really sad. I truly appreciate your constant reminder to educate them to think on a 3 - 6 months investment horizon, at least. Stock split only involved Issued & Paid-Up Share Capital where its no. of shares and amount increases whereas, bonus share will INCREASE Issued & Paid-Up Share Capital and REDUCE distributable reserves. Management is merely distributing free shares to investors rather than thru dividend payout. why not dividend? Ppl tend to use it up readily. why bonus shares instead? it will increase yr net worth if u do it d right way BY NOT SELLING IT OFF!!!
