EPF normally support by queuing at the buy side during market drop, rarely proactively buy from sell queue, except this morning one shot 1000 lots at RM 8.6. However, EPF wrongly judged the market sentiment this morning

Let's look at the chart:
1) The chart shows it is approaching the end of descending triangle and the support is strong.
2) The stock price is currently near the long term (since bottom in March) up trend support line, it is also a strong support.
3) At the exact support line of short-term descending triangle and the long term up trend support line, the 50 days moving average is also around the same price range (around RM 9.2 - 9.3).
4) With good earnings outlooks, it is less likely to break the support lines and MA50.
5) Conclusion: There may be an upthrust in tomorrow or the day after. Hold tight and enjoy the ride.
Just my two cents.

It is MSCI index fund rebalancing, the price will go back down next Tuesday, try to search for stocks that have last minutes shot up during MSCI cut-off date last time

It is common during MSCI cut-off date for stock to jump up and down with high volume. For me, I think it will adjust back to around 21.50 next Tuesday

Let us look at two academic/empirical studies...
"Do emerging market stocks benefit from index inclusion?" by Burcu Hacibedel and Jos van Bommel. Available at: https://core.ac.uk/download/pdf/6301308.pdf
and
"The relationship between stock performance and their inclusion to or exclusion from the MSCI or S&P 500 - An event study for listed firms in Europe and US" by Jeroen Reuling. Available at: http://arno.uvt.nl/show.cgi?fid=141801
The findings are:
1) Pre-MSCI inclusion, stocks have higher abnormal returns
2) Post-MSCI inclusion, stocks have near 0 abnormal returns or negative abnormal returns
3) Pre-MSCI exclusion, stocks have negative abnormal returns
4) Post-MSCI exclusion, stocks have higher abnormal returns
It seems to indicate a golden buying opportunity for IJM today..

The "big fund will buy" myth after MSCI inclusion shall be treated with cautions.

Historical PE ratio matters too. Look at Hengyuan, historically PE has been lower than Petronm and other oil stocks. When Hengyuan posted amazing RM1+ eps for one quarter, some sifu use normal PE ratio such as 20-25 to justify it will rocket up to RM100, and the rest is just history. So, compare the historical PE ratio of Supermax to its peers and see if the trend is similar. Stock generally have anchoring effect for what PE ratio they should be at, non-tech stocks of course.

FYI I gained near 200% from CH and some from CJ, as retailers, we really cannot beat IB, but we can ride along, play safe and be smart.
2018-01-26 00:30 | Report Abuse
And frankly, warrants players do not hold it until it matures, mainly to get capital gains. It is obvious that recent warrants of HY that issued at 60-100% premium are totally not advisable for retailers to go in, we must done good amount of studies on warrants before our hands are itchy.
2018-01-26 00:27 | Report Abuse
Of course IB issues warrants to sucks our poor retailers' monies, but they are not playing it naked too, they too bought HY mother shares for hedging. We have to play smart too, warrants are playable, but just don't sailang in warrants.
2018-01-26 00:25 | Report Abuse
Whoever talk bad on warrants have to remember warrants are double-edged sword, they forgot when HY was only around 8, CH only 13 cents. Those who bought at the time will have 700+% gain when CH hits 0.90+++, if they continue to hold now, they still have 400+% of gains. In investment, timing to buy and sell is everything, you cannot blame warrants as you might personally get burned by it. There are many others who enjoyed multi-fold of returns just from warrants.
