@ Jay, take it easy. I know it is very annoying, that is why I choose to stay away from the forum whenever there is a big up or big drop cause there will be many so call experts jump up to put up a show to "show off".
Investment is fun learning process.

Oil refinery margin is climbing despite oil price going down. To me this is good news for refinery business but I m not predicting short term share prices movements. Just let the market forces take its own path.
Good luck & happy investing

AGM highlights
1) refinery margin & refined products prices still staying at a healthy region so far.
2) for 2017 there are 16 new petrol stations up & running, another 23 new petrol stations up but pending various approval documents to join in operations, in other words reasonably good growth is expected in FY2017
3) company market share stand at 19% (as at Q1 2017), 2016 : 17.4%, 2015 : 16.6%
4) 2017 management will be focus new market developments , product innovation & promotions & operations efficiency to achieve targeted growth
5) as for refinery upgrades, management stated still in the early study stage, where no further information is provided. Funding, the management not rule out of right issue + other sources
Overall I m quite happy with the progress of the company, long term investment is good but no comment on short term share prices movements

Asia refinery margin jump to 2-1/2 years high !!
As long as the refinery margin stay healthy, one off stock loss is manageable. And if the margin can stay until end of June, I foresee another solid quarter results.

The reason on above answers is I asked the same question to Petronm management before.
2017-06-03 12:13 | Report Abuse
@ Jeff, with regarding the next schedule refinery plant Maintenance will be at 4th Qtr 2018, unless the new upgrade will be taking place early than that.
Whereas choppy earning always part of refinery business due to its nature. This is mainly due to oil prices, refinery margin & forex rate are all external factors, the management only can mitigate part of it through some hedging.
FIFO inventory system is their company policy & I guess they will not change it easily unless there is a needs to.

@ Jay, in fact yes, a lot of end user switching to Petron gasul LPG, the reason behind it is because the agents are pushing it very hard as they are getting higher sales commission from Petron compare to others supplier. My friend is one of the agent.

This year I m not too sure, since it is the 5th Anniversary & the meeting will be held at Mandrin Oriental
2017-05-31 19:20 | Report Abuse
Yes, I will attend the coming AGM,
whereas how much will it be value, I guess it is very subjective, and it depend on how optimistic about the future earning. Let say if Petronm FY2017 EPS around to$1.10 to $1.20 (which they have to earn another $0.70 ~ $0.80 for the next 3 quarters) I guess conservatively u can apply PE of 8 for it.
Whereas the Free Cash Flow, I hope this FY can get $320-$340 mils.

RXX Investment Bank is working on the the damages limitation, what do your expect ?
Ha ha ha.....
2017-05-29 13:14 | Report Abuse
Other than COGS is up (suspected due hedging reason) compared to last Qtr (4th Qtr 2016), majority of the figures is quite encouraging.
1) Free Cash Flow = $91 mils
2) debts reduced to $251.5 mils (Revolving Credit is reduced to $110 mils as compared to $150 mils last Qtr)
3) Cash on hand = $204.8 mils
4) Inventory had reduced too, however if u added in the forward contract the reduction is not very substantial.
5) ROE is increased from 20+% to 25+%
Figures wise is quite encouraging, however share price as usual it has always been unpredictable.

Liquidity is the major limitation for fund to hold this counter.
2017-05-25 18:17 | Report Abuse
@ Alex, I personally think is due to brent oil hedging.
Free Cash Flow = $91 mils, very solid
2017-05-25 17:26 | Report Abuse
Just as expected $0.40, good cash flow as well. Total cash on hand 204 mils, cash from operations $130 mils & debts reduced by $56.5 mils ! Solid figures
2017-05-25 10:15 | Report Abuse
As for Petronm, the concern now is on the funding for the upgrade, USD 1.5 billions is a lot of money, some investors is wary of right issue.
Anyway let see what is the big plan
2017-05-24 19:38 | Report Abuse
It is the average refine product selling price, not the Brent crude oil price
2017-05-24 18:50 | Report Abuse
In HengYuan report stated refinery margin is better than last Qtr, and the average refine product price is higher.
Good news for Petronm
2017-05-18 09:53 | Report Abuse
1) Brent Oil price is stable around at USD 52,
2) Refinery margin is staying at healthy zone (USD7+ per B),
3) RM is gradually getting stronger vs USD
4) Petronm is due to release a solid first Qtr result
I can't there is anything to worry at the moment.
2017-05-17 10:59 | Report Abuse
If Oil price is stable then Petron Corp monthly net income can at least hit 2 billions peso.
Using conservative 25% contribution to calculate, Petron Malaysia Operation (included 2 non listing subsidiaries) will be around RM43.5 mils, Which means that Petronm estimate net monthly can hit RM37-38 mils

Thanks David for the hardwork, by the way just want to add 2 additional points :
1) Forex Rate, USD exchange rate against MYR is 4.4265 on 31/3/2017, where as the rate at 30/6/2017
is 4.294 there is about 3% improvement for MYR. This will in a way benefit Petronm, however how big will be the impact is hard to estimate as due to their Forex hedging contracts details is not available.
2) FY2017 Free Cash Flow might be around $100 mils lower due to the budgeted $150 mils Capex for this FY. Previously Petronm spend about $50 mils Capex per FY, hence this FY Free Cash Flow is expected around $210 mils.
