I have been telling my friends time and again that saving Rm50 and risking your life is NOT a good trade off. Supporters of Malindo are saying that Malindo is only linked to Lion by Logo and group but all Malindo management, pilots, etc are Malaysians and there is nothing to worry about. Flying risks aside, there have been complaints of customers left in limbo after their cc debited but no confirmation from Malindo. How can one book hotels/tours and such without knowing if the flight tickets are confirmed? And, with only 2 aircrafts operating, forget about connecting flights via other airlines.

Bullbear refers to Malindo as "we". What do you think?

Malindo is already planning to train their ab initio cadets on the ATR. Where would they be flying if not from Skypark?

I hope DCA is going to be strict with them as they are with AA. It seems that Lion is trying to go in Australia again. With 9M, they may be able to get that foothold internationally which they cant with LION.

Not nice to thumb down Malindo here because you have not seen their operations. This is a business site, not LYN kiddo forum.
2013-03-20 17:01 | Report Abuse
That is why 9M is so valuable to them. Now they can fly as Malindo and not as Lion Air around the world...no ban for Malaysian licenced aviation.
Why the australia jv fail?

Indonesia DCA is investigating certain aviation companies for overworking its crew... exceeding the recommended flying hours and hiding them. These crew, if found guilty may lose their licences....

CIMB has revised AA to Rm3.00, meaning it has 50 sens upside till Malindo launch...and we will see if their free food, baggage, larger seats, better service will affect AA further. CIMB reports that Malindo may suffer losses due to the extras estimate they may operate 70 instead of 100 aircrafts as planned for Malaysia.. Lets see how this works in mid March 2013.

Malindo Air has taken measures to deal with the fuel price fluctuation by minimizes the fuel consumption of the aircraft by purchasing aircraft that burns less fuel which is Boeing 737-900ER....more fuel efficient than A320? How much?
How does the Malindo Air cope with the issues of fuel price fluctuation?
•Using computerized flight planning.....AA use what?
•Reducing aircraft speed during cruising periods....trade secret?
•Using slower rates of climb or descent and higher cruise altitudes......eh...is this new?

Tell you what.....Malindo Air co-pilots pay to fly. Malindo only pay the captain...real cost savings from free labour...

At any one day, you will see SIA cheaper than AA, or MAs cheaper than AA, etc. Then on others AA cheaper than XXX.....

Lion Air was supposed to take off in Australia 2008 in jv with Skyworld. However, skyworld collapsed and the jv disappeared. Big news in papers in Jan 2008, and it disappeared by Sept 2008. We have to wait and see how big Malindo will be in KL. The numbers are not adding up right now.

If EPF keep selling, would foreign shareholdings increase or decrease?

My turn to copy and paste!
KUALA LUMPUR: Affin Investment Bank maintained its "Buy" call on AirAsia Bhd after the latter's move to put in an order for 100 Airbus A320s.
"All in, we are positive with the development. No change to our earnings forecast at this juncture. Maintain Add recommendation on AirAsia. Share price has been under pressure on concern of stronger competition in 2013 from new start-up Malindo Airways, and will likely see more pressure now that the stock is being taken off from the FBM KLCI Index," it said in a research report.
It said fundamentally, the airline has shown resilience in the face of competition and tough market environment (in the past and till now) with its lean cost structure and continuous expansions.
Slated to be delivered starting 2013, the 100 Airbus A320s orders consist of 36 A320s with the Current Engine Option (CEO) and 64 A320s with the new Engine Option (NEO) and is part of the group's strategy to accelerate growth in its core markets in Malaysia, Thailand and Indonesia and new markets in Japan and the Philippines.
"The recent weakness in price, suggests a good opportunity to accumulate on the stock. No change to our target price of RM3.70 based on 12 times calendar year 2013 earnings per share. We continue to like AirAsia for the group's regional expansion, efficiency and sound fundamentals. Risk to our call is further selling by the foreign shareholders. As at end-August 2012, the foreign shareholdings stood at 52%," it said.

AA still selling tickets after March 31, 2013...this means they are not seeing any hiccups on AOC re-application.
2012-12-11 06:54 | Report Abuse
Insight, AA is clearly not meant for big shots like you. Mostly meant for budget travellers who are willing to wait it out to save a few hundred.
2012-12-10 17:16 | Report Abuse
Insight, what are you trying to say? Since you don't fly AA, would you be flying Malindo?
2012-12-10 17:01 | Report Abuse
We have enough of negative news, time for technical rebound as it is clearly oversold.
2012-12-10 16:59 | Report Abuse
Isnt it strange that AA with its records to date is afraid of not getting its AOC renewed where Lion Air which has horrible records to date is getting rosy receptions with no worries of AOC?
2012-12-10 16:57 | Report Abuse
If you think AA cannot fulfil the AOC requirement, would you be buying ticket for flights after 31 March 2013? Well, it is only 3 months away. I will wait and see and place my money on the line.
