Uchi had a good year in 2017; and here is how the management is describing 2018 -

"To the best of our knowledge, based on our customers positive outlook on demand, the Group expects a high single
digit of revenue growth in USD for the financial year ending December 31, 2018.
We do not expect any significant changes in our principal geographical areas of distribution and product group
contributions. Factors that will affect our performance include fluctuations in USD, material shortages or fluctuations
in material prices and increasing labour costs.
Nonetheless, the Group is confident that we will remain profitable and maintain a strong balance sheet."

@joeytay - scold management for share price? are you kidding me? that's like saying i should scold you because it rained so heavily yesterday that there was flash floods!
if there is business loss, or property value impairment due to bad mgmt then you can scold. so far, i will commend KIP mgmt for maintaining the steady Property Yields but will tell them to buck up on the Melaka and NS properties as the utilization there is low.

Q4 results will be announced later and final proposed dividend will also be mentioned, which will be subject to shareholders approval at AGM and by time you get the money is July'18

You need to also remove the special dividend or capital return. Some of these companies may have cash pile that they do not plan to reinvest in the business and thus reward the loyal shareholders.

@arv18 - thank you for bringing Marco to my attention. It will be in my radar for now.

@Albukhary - I think it really depends how and why Amy moves from one business to another. If she finds Milk tea giving her better returns (profit or yields) than lemonade, it means going for a business that is more profitable, and soon after move to the next (Healthy Juice) when the profits for Milk Tea drops.

You see, the purpose of any business (investment) is to maximize the returns. For as long as Amy understands the business that she is going into well, the risk and the returns it is not speculation.
If she does her homework that the new business it is more profitable and does not just follow the "fad" blindly, it is an investment.
However, if Amy just jump on the Milk tea "bandwagon" because other are doing with the "hope" to sell higher without knowing that business well, then she is speculating.

"Never fall in love with a stock, it is always important to be objective and sell when it price exceeds the intrinsic value and there is a better opportunity."
I will write about this in the future - how to appraise your investments and how to determine intrinsic value.

@arv18 I am no invested in Marco and do not know about Marco. However, since you asked, I did a quick check.
Here is my take on Marco
Financials
- Small cap, company that has been around for close to 50 years
- Good financial fundamentals; sitting on cash pile of RM100M; debt free.
- I like that they consistently have been rewarding shareholder with dividends year after year
Business Analysis
-Past years,earnings are flat despite higher revenue
- Marco is in a tough Business position - In an age of Smart Phones, Smart cameras in phones, wearable, fitbit, i-watch, ipad and all sorts of other gizmos, Marco is trying to stay in market selling Casio watches, calculators and cameras in the consumer space.

Outlook
The business margins to be squeezed further a competition is very intense and there are so many players and new technologies.

Having said that, it all depends on what Marco's mgmt. plan to do.

Anyways, the above is just my take based on a 20min quick check, do not take my inputs literally. There is much that is unknown by me. Do your research.

FY'16 they paid 13sen.....if they do 14 or 15sen this year it is a fair.

10sen is special one off pay out as they have the cash pile to return to shareholders...

Save - no such bonus issue in the plan.

As long as Uchi can grow the business, there is nothing to stop the confidence in the share. fundamentally the company is sound but top line growth and expansion is also crucial.
they have been very closed about their growth plans (or may not have any plans)

today alone seeing 1.3m shares being dumped is concerning.....plus this is window dressing period.
all time low of 0.83...next is at 0.77

With RM25B debt....this is a waste of time investment.....lousy returns.....not investment grade share to me.... But those who want to speculate and buy low sell high maybe can make some...
My intrinsic value for this share is less than RM1.......
and if you all scroll up many many months ago...you will see that i predicted RM1.26 when it was hovering at RM1.5

i wanted to ask more questions about thr current business and the outlook for 2018 but held back as Tan Sri got a call during the AGM informing him his sister's demise....so it was best to keep the AGM short as he wanted to rush off as soon.
