It is quite apparent now that the global aluminium market ex-China is moving toward a surplus. The expectations of tighter supply because of smelter capacity cutbacks in China seem to have started fading now as the cuts have been less than expected. In China, on the other hand, primary aluminium output kept rising. All these factors have led LME aluminium prices to correct over the last weeks falling below US$2,000 per tonne mark.

The light metal which closed at US$2,028.0 per tonne on Wednesday, December 6, dropped to US$1,994 per tonne on Thursday, December 7. The price is expected to fluctuate in the US$1,900-2,000 per tonne range in the short term.

Dear tan850201, the ex-dividend date is 13/12/2017. If you want the dividend, the last day to buy is on 12/12/2017. Its share price all depends on market makers. What I know is big funds bought 90,869,000 shares at RM5.20 on 30/11/2017 (4.50 pm) when PMETAL is chosen to be included into MSCI large cap index.

Foreign funds are making a gradual comeback to KLCI. If you were to study the technical analysis chart for the previous five years (2011 to 2016), can you see that KLCI started to move upwards middle of December until end of December due to window dressing. By that time, PMETAL is already a component stock of KLCI.

Can any sifu / PMETAL supporters comment on the current aluminium price of USD1998 per tonne at 3:05 pm (which is below US2000 per tonne). I am holding a big position in PMETAL due to its impending inclusion into the KLCI index on 18 December 2017 other that its 1.5 sen dividend (ex-date 13 December 2017). Do you all think USD2000 per tonne can be a strong support?
