We look at why a divergence emerged in stocks, bonds and FX on Thursday(Friday today here) and what it means ahead of US's non-farm payrolls. Despite the 2% fall in the S&P 500, the Canadian dollar was the top performer and ranges were tight. A few indicators and a central bank speech will be released in Asia

A few factors contributed to the US stock market selloff:

The failure to make a deal (so far) in Argentina

More trouble at Portugal's Banco Espirito Santo

The sense that the Fed will eventually turn more hawkish

Earnings, to some extent, but there are always good/bad earnings

So the main factor might have been the end of the month. Fund managers hate to show losing trades and a trickle of window dressing might have turned into a flood as the move gathered momentum. At the same time, the Chicago PMI at 52.6 compared to 63.0 added a fundamental worry to the picture.

The market will continue to hunker down ahead of NFP but in the meantime some headlines could keep markets moving. The main one will be the Chinese official manufacturing PMI at 0100 GMT. The consensus is for a slight improvement to 51.4 from 51.0.

Thirty minutes later Australian PPI data for Q2 is due. Inflation concerns are low at the RBA and the report probably won't change the picture.

The final event to watch is a speech from BOJ leader Kuroda at 0330 GMT. The latest data has been weak and he could take a dovish line in an attempt to weaken the yen.

Today US's Commerce Department report showed gross domestic product expanded at a 4 percent annual pace in the second quarter, confirming the Fed’s view that a first-quarter contraction was transitory. Consumers, whose spending accounts for 70 percent of the economy, have grown more confident as the labor market improves and rising share prices boost wealth.
The strengthening of the Dollars vs all other currencies is expected near term as the trimming of FEB's Bond purchases continue,
As US's oil stock pile inventory accelerates , coupling with the US's world leading oil production, the price of OIL dominated in Dollar is going down near term..........

Sumatec has only 2 Qtr Financial reports to show so far, and the First report is the last year 4th Qtr Report which may not be considered as it is a one time Disposal/ write off /clean up report. The 2014 1ST Qtr REPORT is below par (EPS is RM 0.012 ), and we are still waiting for the 2nd Qtr Report....
The criteria for PN17 status removal is min 4 Qtrs of good reports, with convincing "growth" increments for the 4 said consecutive Qtrs.

As such, unless Ajib Gor 's Brother can convince Bursa , then Lifting of PN17 for Sumatec is not a problem lor in Upcoming August, 2014.....
