SINGAPORE (Oct 9): One of the biggest stores of oil at sea is showing signs of emptying out.

The volume of supplies held on tankers in the Strait of Malacca in September dropped to the lowest level since August 2016, according to data from cargo-tracking and intelligence company Kpler.

The real show is in November 2017, where Petron will announce its Q3 result. CD is only expiring in February 2018.

Stock

see if Petron can hit RM12 by November, if yes, major catalyst to push CD higher.

roytheinvestor: CF, rm0.215 x 12 = rm2.58, exercise price: rm11, total rm13.58. If Petron trades above rm13.58 in April (expiry date), you make a lot of money.

CD, rm0.345 x 12 = rm4.14, exercise price: rm8.50, total rm 12.64. If Petron trades above rm12.64 in February (expiry date), you make a lot of money.

Happy analysing :)

roytheinvestor: shouldnt look at value that way, need to look at the conversion ratio 12:1, and exercise price of rm11.

Newbtrader: If your warrant is rm0.20 per warrant, and your conversion ratio is 20:1. Meaning you need to take 20 of your warrants to convert to 1 share, (rm0.20 x 20) = rm4, you can then add rm9.88 exercise price, in total it is rm13.88. When it is reaching expiry, your warrant price should increase to rm0.25, to make total to match rm15. And that is IF Petron share is trading at rm15 then.

Lincm86: Most probably. But for me, I am adding CD, have done my calculation and could take calculated risk. Trade at your own risk ya~

Petron CD has the lowest risk of all, with the lowest premium. Look at HengYuan-CA, expiry on 22/2/18 too, most are buying into it compared to others. Sooner or later, people will discover Petron CD's values.

Yeap, Petron CD expiring in February 2018, not this year. Result is in November, and now is only October. Way to go! Trade at our own risk ya~ :)

George Leong
Take note:
a) Petron CD: premium 13.52%, expiry: 22/2/18
b) Petron CE: premium 24.6%, expiry: 30/4/18
c) Petron CF: premium 24.91%, expiry 9/4/18
d) Petron CG: premium 19.89%, expiry 29/6/18
e) Petron CH: premium 25.27%, expiry 29/6/18

Others are pricing in Petron to trade at rm13-14 in April & June, at current warrant price. Do look at your conversion ratio. Petron CD looks undervalued, with lowest premium (take note on expiry too). Happy trading!

Petron cd is a real gem, with lower conversion ratio & exercise price, compared to others. Only limitation is, an earlier expiry date, on 22/2/18.

What a nice closing to the end of September, with brent crude trading at $56. An upward trend for Q3, from July to September. Highest refinery margin for this quarter too. :)

Petron CC will expired in 2 weeks time. People with financial backings is most likely to buy Petron's shares, whereby traders may buy CD for exposure.

See what happens later. Stock went from rm9 to rm7, and rebounded strongly to rm9. History repeating itself? Petron is cheap.

Actually on a deeper look, Petron's Q2FY2017 operating profits is actually lower compared to Q2FY2016.

Net Profit is boosted by "rm39 million gains on disposal" on its service stations. Bought by the government.

Still, I like its great reduction in borrowings. A net cash company now.

I asked Tan Sri two questions after the AGM which I think will help fellow shareholders here. They are:

1) Is their any outstanding variation order for LRT Extension? Has it decreased a lot?

Answer: Yes we still have. We couldn't disclose the amount because it is subject for approval. But it has not decline much.

2) As the Lrt3 PDP, is the 3% fee earned progressively or at the end of the project? Is it a net fee?

Answer: Yes, earned since last year. We still have to minus some cost on our side, like staff cost. But not much.

2018 might be Tguan year as the company should fully commission all machineries by Dec 2017. I like the company double digit sales growth. Though I take note that its profits didn't grow, but sooner or later the company will find ways to turn higher sales > higher profits. Just a matter of time.

With sales to increase further in 2018, I expect its profits to grow too. Hopefully with some corporate exercise then.

Relax, crude oil will hit $50 one day, just hold and collect dividends. The company is still expanding with additional service stations, high margin products, higher commercial sales.

Petron key factors:
1) Cost efficiencies - Able to manage cost and be profitable in low crude oil price environment as seen in 2015 / 2016.

2) Sales volume - Market share has been increasing for both retail & commercial components.

3) Refinery Margins - Crack spread is climbing, better than Q1.

4) High margin products - New products are sold with much higher profit margin.

5) Inventory loss - Depends on its inventory levels and how fast oil price drops. Hopefully its not a huge loss.

In my view, the current crude oil environment and Petron current operating position seems much better compared to FY2016. Hence am expecting a much higher profits for FY2017. Limited downside, but huge upside potential.
