kleboy, by that time it could be too late.
I think it is ok to buy IF the company is profitable all the while.
Also that golden rule tak apply on new companies and new industry or tech companies.

SinGor, that's right. No point in selling. If someone one..can buy lah...but high price.
I don't think pegging ringgit is good idea...we can become like Greece..they can't control the currency. Better to float the ringgit, at least people don't waste money spending them overseas if ringgit is pegged

cckkpr, what you said make sense.
Now we have to follow this new CEO very closely and see whether he is really up to the job or not. We need a really gungho ceo, one with a vision and a mission. Not one that keep giving excuses.

Iqbal,

Those who opposed already exited the share. Even EPF was dumping it.
If the deal jadi, it is a plus because it increases FGV landbank, with reduced production costs. Higher margin can be obtained from indon landbank, even if the efficiency cannot match the yield obtained in Malaysia. Labor costs cheaper, processing costs cheaper etc.

If the deal tak jadi, those shareholders will jump right back in and push the share up. Either way, i see it as a positive.

So let's wait and see.

Only invest in 5 companies? That's consider pretty risky, but then, you sure have investments elsewhere, so it may not be.

CIMB not making profi? They are making profit right now.
My only concern is the politics of the nation. I am still assessing whether i should continue to hold CIMB.

Anak Felda,

We want good performance from FGV. Making money is not easy, running a business is not easy.

Felda original buyers should not worry so much because as long as they don't sell, all this stock price decline is only on paper. It is not a realized loss.

BTW why would Ayah Felda want to sell their FGV shares?

This is like the same argument with gold loving people; they said gold is their love, it is everything, they want to keep it, but they always want higher price, so that they can sell it. Then they scratch their heads and then wonder, why they sold it, then they want to buy it back, at higher prices. All the while the gold is a just sitting there making nobody richer.

Just hold on to the shares and collect the dividends. In several years, the dividends will be enough to compensate the entire loss of the original IPO price. Then can exit without making a cent of loss.

Ring..i can explain your predicament in full. I will be a long write, but suffice to say that God can't easily enters our puny world or it will be destroyed. In the quran it was mentioned that to get out from the system and go to God's place...it will take 100,000 yrs for the angel..so we should not blame God for whatever that's happening...most likely it is manmade

Yes, don't simply claim siphon this and that. Is PM doing his best for the country? That is a more important question. If he is, then the issue of siphon will take care of itself.

The truth is, none of the information is useful for predicting the future. I will rather focus on what the companies have or planning to do, that kind of thing. The future is the more important one. Even a company with a minus 25% sales growth is worth to be bought if they have someone that everyone would want in the future.
We only look at the ratios etc to gauge the survivability of the company for the period we want to lock our funds. That's about it.

sosfinance, hedging should only be entered into by those doing transaction..which is waiting to close but requires weeks or months. A business should not hedge. That the edge is not so good advice, i wonder they really know what they are doing or not. I don't like egde because they love properties too much. In my view properties has little value, it is a luxury, not wealth generator per se.

At this price level, it is too low to explain all the issues out there. Therefore it is definitely undervalued. I am adding more to my position in anticipation...
My take is EPF and KWAP and the big boys..are acting emotionally...not thinking clearly for the long term...I fully support the FGV action of buying the indon company...as to price...it is normal to buy more than standard market price..otherwise seller will not sell.
Question is..what can FGV do with the newly acquired company? I can imagine to many things they can do..therefore it is a positive.

Big boys are slow...retail like us are nimbler..simpler and a lot faster.
As for Greece, i made conscious decision to pare down holdings..not in malaysialah..overseas...but now i am buying back...
I foresee Greek will vote yes for their referendum..then gov will collapse..and new election...all in..it is just bad news for them...but by september..a new bailout will be in place..and debt relief..but will only happen if greek install a good gov..not this current gov...
So in short term..there is a inny winny tiny window of stock rally upon referendum yes..i think will last a day only..thereafter...we will not know what will happen
Ohh..back to Airasia...if you all are still flying Airasia...i will still want to own the shares.

Acquisition wise, i think FGV is making the right moves...they have the cash and they should use it to expand...and indonesia is the best place to go...regarding the price to be paid, that is only perception of high. When you want to buy something from somebody, you will have to pay the premium, and this is normal. I think FGV will benefit from this purchase.

Airasia wins two prestigious awards last night in Paris. It is a well run airline. Airasia existed through bad and good times, so GMT reports may not impact much, other than giving us low price opportunity. So i bought some more, but my money already ran out.

Still ada hope.
Now we wait for new issued shares to consolidate and fully traded. It will impact the share price just as it is now. Once all over, then we wait for financial report, which i believe, will be better than last time. Then the stock may go up higher then. Now if have money, it is time to buy. I ran out of money already, too bad.

I read similar report for Noble group, by muddy waters. To me, it does not hold waters. Noble problem was more of a terrible commodities prices, and isn't using accounting to cover everything. No company is perfect, there will be something somewhere, but whether this is another Enron or not, where the things are deliberate, i don't think so.

Accounting gimmicks are not a strong point to use. one can find so many questions from an cash flow statements etc. This is like Noble report, which i owned previously. I wonder whether i should jump in now. Noble problem was terrible prices of commodities, but they give it the final hammer and the price crashed. Same with AA i guess. It is a good time to buy.

I can tell you many people confused about their actual returns from the stock market. It is not easy to calculate.

For example, if one put in an initial investment of RM10,000 into stocks, it is easy to calculate the gain and loss on subsequent trades. But what if the person puts in additional money, say RM3,000? Now how does the profit is calculated? And over years, lose some, gain some, what will the actual profit would be?
One thing for sure, this calculation is mathematically incorrect.
Put in RM40,000. After 5 years, money becomes 60,000. Profit is Rm20,000 over 5 years. Yearly returns? Some people calculate this way, 20k/40k = 50% return over 5 yrs, Then divide by 5, will get the yearly return of 10%. It is a wrong number.
There are other examples, worse ones, where one continue to put in money regularly.
So when mutual funds declared their returns of 30% per annum, i have great doubt on how they actually calculate the numbers.

Selling at a loss with the hope that it will go down and be able to buy more shares at lower price, is a gamble. If the price actually moves up, it is a total loss, no way to gain back the lost money. If it goes down as expected, this is a simple calculation to show your profit:

Say you bought 1000 shares at 5.3
Then out of fear of down market, you sell it back at 5.2, losing RM100.

Then you wait for it to go down more as planned, and when it reaches 5.1 per share, you buy back.
You can buy 1000 shares plus additional 20 shares.

Now you hope it will go up, say it go up back to 5.3
Your profit would RM106 or so, or about 2%.

But as i said, if it doesn't go down as planned, you lose RM100 for nothing.

andychucky28.. if you already bought, better you hang on to it. Why sell at a loss, unless you are absolutely sure market, and CIMB will go down some more. Patience is important. As long as you don't sell, you don't really experience any loss.

SinGor,
I don't trust Mkini that much. Many people have interest to have the siblings 'fight'. Although the situation is heated, i am sure nazir is well aware his and cimb's fate may rests with his brother staying..so he will do the necessary.
Yet, at the same time, he need to keep his distance so that he is not caught in the wind when things fall...so it is delicate.
And best of all..we are all sitting in the middle of it!
I was surprised with the nothing2hide thing..tak jadi...it's like the man has lost control..this is not a good sign at all..and he also slotted in to cabut direct to saudi right after..this is not a good thing (whether planned or not). After debate..need media attention..not cabut to other country. And worst..we have earthquakes in sabah and our man is nowhere to be seen. he will definitely go there right after the saudi..otherwise...no trust lorrr...

Guys..i have been thinking hard.

CIMB is weighed down by indonesia and thai performance, and the worst cloud now is politics. It seems that brothers are brothers, and either one will impact the other.

So i meditated in a cave..and spent hours to figure it out.

My conclusion.

Najib and co will prevail. Other politicians including ministers will not in the end be with our ex pm..they will in the end..go with Najib. And the sabah and sarawak is strongly behind najib. So filtering all the noises, some bloodbath may occur in the near future, and the winner will be najib. He also enjoyed good support from singapore.

So with all this in mind...i decided to make more purchases of cimb shares, it is just too cheap to pass. Doesn't matter it is 5.3 or 5.0 ...it is way too cheap. vin..so i joined you to buy more of cimb

rizerlee, when USD goes up, the plane's value goes up. But there is a loan attached to it, also in USD that also goes up. But AA income is mostly local currency, so there is an impact, i.e. need to put more local currency to pay same amount of USD. So if sell the plane, retire the debt, then lease back, got some profit. But there is a cost to do that...if the difference is not much, no point in doing that.
