Thailand depends on tourism as their main source of revenue. 65.7% of the GDP comes from tourism. One of the biggest things that attracts tourists to Thailand is the nightlife. Getting some action is very easy in Bangkok, Pattaya and Phuket and they are quite cheap too. There are massage parlours in both of the streets which offer something else than just massage. This attracts bachelors, single men and, in some cases, family people too who remain bystanders.

This year Malaysia is heading for a run rate of 28.5 millions Visitors while Thailand is targeting 27 Million. Haha without this Honey, Malaysia still outpace Thailand this year. Looks like we have more to offer...

HLIB said Capital A Bhd (CapA) was still in a weak financial position, with RM8.4 billion negative shareholders equity position, RM578.5 million cash, RM945.8 million short term debt and RM5.1 billion short term lease liabilities.

“CapA nonetheless, was able to turn its operating cash-flow to positive (RM1,505.1 million), with a reported profit of RM996.6 million for 9MFY23 (driven by consolidating gains of Thai AirAsia in 2QFY23).

“Maintain ‘overweight’ with ‘buy’ recommendations on CapA (TP: RM1.40)” it said.

#geary KUALA LUMPUR: Tunku Datuk Mahmood Fawzy Tunku Muhyiddin, has ended his service as chairman of AirAsia X on Dec 15, 2023, after having fulfilled his mandate to steer the long-haul budget carrier out of its financial malaise.

AirAsia X noted that following Mahmood Fawzy's appointment, AirAsia X turned around its financial position from 12 quarters of losses to registering five consecutive quarters of net profit.

It also recorded a positive shareholders’ equity, and demonstrated significant operational improvement across all other key metrics as evidenced in the third quarter of this year.

Based on its improved operating and financial performances, AirAsia x had on Nov 21, 2023, received Practice Note 17 upliftment from Bursa SC.

Air Asia X’s turnaround strategy consists of the following elements:

Restructuring its debt and liabilities, which amounted to about $15.3 billion as of June 2020. The airline has proposed a scheme of arrangement to its creditors, which involves a haircut of 99.7% of the debt, a share consolidation, and a rights issue. The scheme is subject to approval by the creditors and the court.

Relaunching its operations with a focus on medium-haul markets, where the demand is strongest, and the competition is less fierce. The airline plans to increase its flights to 44 weekly across 10 routes from Malaysia, and 22 weekly across five routes from Thailand, in the next two months. The airline also aims to resume its flights to Japan, Korea, China, and Australia, once the travel restrictions are lifted.

Reducing its costs and increasing its efficiency, by using a single aircraft type (Airbus A330neo), optimizing its network and fleet utilization, renegotiating its contracts and leases, and streamlining its workforce and processes. The airline targets to achieve a unit cost of 3.5 US cents, which is about 70% lower than full-service airlines in the region.

Offering low fares and innovative products, to stimulate new market demand and attract more customers. The airline offers fares that are 30% to 50% lower than full-service carriers, and also provides ancillary services, such as baggage, meals, seats, and Wi-Fi. The airline also launched a new product called AirAsia Unlimited Pass, which allows customers to fly unlimited times within a year for a fixed price

2023 is a great year for our CAPITALA as it has been reporting narrower and narrower losses.

2024 should be better...

Unlike Mabel's Blue Chips, as Handsome sslee pointed out CapitalA ‘s financial is currently weak.

Mabel can wait until CapitalA is lifted from PN17 as my holding cost is below current trading price. Now is not the time to sell as it is trading below all the targeted Moving Average. If it breaches the 200 Moving Average maybe Mabel will sell perhaps above RM 1.00. Maybank Target is RM 1.01.

As Paul said, "Elephant walks slowly but as usual reach the final destination".

Fortunately Mabel has been in and out of this counter many times. This counter has been giving Mabel about 15% ROI (excluding previous two fantastic Dividend).

Satu Sembilan Delapan (“SSD”), comes with 5,384 ha mature oil palm and its own palm oil mill in Kalimantan, achieved a 140% higher pre-tax profit of RM29.29 million last year due to stronger commodity price. It has been a long time since the asset-rich but soooo cash-flow-light Auntie Huang group of companies undertook a corporate transaction in the country.

PM Corpes proposed the purchase of a 51% stake in A&W (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd for RM21 million, to be paid in cash and shares. The seller, Inter Mark Resources Sdn Bhd, will get RM11.6 million in cash, with the rest to be paid in Auntie Huang PM Corpes shares.

Third quarter 2024 earnings released: EPS: RM0.002 (vs RM0.10 loss in 3Q 2023)

Third quarter 2024 results:
EPS: RM0.002 (up from RM0.10 loss in 3Q 2023).
Revenue: RM1.12b (down 11% from 3Q 2023).
Net income: RM30.9m (up RM1.65b from 3Q 2023).
Profit margin: 2.8% (up from net loss in 3Q 2023).

Revenue is forecast to grow 1.1% p.a. on average during the next 3 years, compared to a 4.9% decline forecast for the Energy Services industry in Malaysia.

Over the last 3 years on average, earnings per share has fallen by 17% per year but the company’s share price has fallen by 27% per year, which means it is performing significantly worse than earnings.

Meanwhile Shares of Lady Sapura (P1) were the most actively traded on Thursday across all Bursa securities, with 193.68 million shares changing hands though its share price was unchanged at five sen, valuing it at RM798.95 million.

KUALA LUMPUR (Dec 14): Sapura Energy Bhd has been granted a second extension of up to May 31 next year to submit its Practice Note 17 (PN17) regularization plan, which was supposed to be due on Nov 30, 2023.

“The extension of time would enable the company to continue building a robust regularization plan based on the ongoing debt restructuring exercise, which is well underway following the confirmation for its proposed restructuring scheme approval-in-principle from the Corporate Debt Restructuring Committee,” said Sapura in a stock exchange filing on Thursday (Dec 14).

As announced in the last AGM, White Knight is expected to arrive in Q1 2024. Sapura's current market cap is about RM 800m, with Sapura selling OMV at a price of RM5.73b. Sapura's value will double, and the market cap should reflect the sale.

PNB, with its large holdings in Sapura, will need to increase the share price which reflects the real market value of Sapura. Rakyat is the largest shareholder of Sapura Energy when Amanah Saham Bumiputara owns 4,805,895,739 or 30.08% interest. This does not include Amanah Saham Malaysia 2 – Wawasan, Amanah Saham Malaysia 3, Amanah Saham Bumiputera 3 – Didik, Amanah Saham Nasional, and Amanah Saham Bumiputera 2.

2022 was a tough year for Sap. Despite their shortcomings, the AR report shows that they paid a total of RM 18.9 million in income tax for the year, which is equivalent to 2.4% of its profit before tax of RM 779.6 million. More to cum..
