Yesterday Sime Darby Declared Second Interim Dividend of 10 sen. The stock price usually drops by the amount of the dividend after the ex-dividend date. This is because new shareholders are not entitled to that payment.

Ironically since last week, KUMPULAN WANG PERSARAAN has been disposing Sime Darby Shares. As of yesterday, KWAP has unloading more than 1 million shares. Good luck to KWAP Shareholders. They not only lose Dividend, but they will also lose the chance to be part of this playing field.

Technical chart is currently oversold and trading below 20.50.100 and 200 Moving Average MACD show Bearish Momentum

This acquisition propels our Sime Darby as the largest automotive player in Asia Pacific!

Sime Darby is a truly MNC with revenue surpass Ferrari NV by 2X. We should be proud of the "London Raid" on Guthrie. Now Guthrie is Sime Darby Berhad.

The deal is also expected to accord Sime Darby full presence across the automotive spectrum by adding high-volume mass market brands (Toyota, Lexus, Perodua, BYD, Mazda, Ford, Hyundai) to complement its existing premium to luxury portfolio (BMW, Rolls-Royce, MINI, Jaguar, Land Rover and Porsche).

Sime Darby Berhad has a significant three-year median payout ratio of 67%, meaning that it is left with only 33% to reinvest into its business. This implies that the company has been able to achieve decent earnings growth despite returning most of its profits to shareholders.

Some possible spinoffs from this acquisition is bringing in Toyota or other Marque EV into Malaysia and using our Perodua manufacturing platform to build Mulan’s BYD locally. Now Everyone Can Go Electric!

KUALA LUMPUR (Aug 24): Mabel’s Kuala Lumpur Kepong Bhd (KLK) is believed to be buying a 33% stake in Boustead Plantations Bhd from Lembaga Tabung Angkatan Tentera (LTAT), according to sources. LTAT will retain a 35% stake in Boustead Plantations.

Boustead Plantations owns 42 operating oil palm plantation estates, including 16 plantation estates in Peninsular Malaysia, as well as 26 in Sabah and Sarawak, and 10 palm oil mills, comprising three mills in Peninsular Malaysia, five in Sabah and two in Sarawak. 72,300 ha of the group’s landbank is utilised for oil palm cultivation, representing 74% of its total landbank of 97,400 ha. This consists of 23,300 ha in Peninsular Malaysia, 38,700 ha in Sabah and 10,300 ha in Sarawak.

Boustead Plantations will be the third major acquisition by KLK and its parent company Batu Kawan Bhd within three years. To recap, Batu Kawan took over Chemical Co of Malaysia Bhd (CCM) in March 2021 at the peak of the Covid-19 pandemic. KLK then made an offer to buyout IJM Plantations Bhd, including IJM Corp Bhd’s 56.2% stake in IJM Plantations.

Mabel Batu Kawan also bought 56.32% of CCM from Permodalan Nasional Bhd and undertook an MGO for the remaining shares it did not own in the chemical and polymer manufacturer. The RM519.86 million deal strengthened Batu Kawan’s market position as a chlor-alkali chemical manufacturer.

This is great for Mabel as her exposure in this sector will be CCM and PCHEM plus with the latest acquisition KLK acreage in Malaysia and Indonesia now is about :
KLK - 300,000 hectares
IJM - 60, 979 hectares
BPPlant - 97,400 hectares

PETRONAS Chemicals Group Berhad has declared a First Interim Single Tier Dividend for fiscal year ending 31 December 2023 of 8 sen per ordinary share. Ex-Date is 07 September 2023. Payment Date is 21 September 2023. Entitlement date is 08 September 2023.

When a company pays out a dividend, it signals that the company is profitable and has enough cash to distribute to its shareholders. However, the stock price usually drops by the amount of the dividend after the ex-dividend date. This is because new shareholders are not entitled to that payment.

Last year PCHEM as given us a Yield of 5.85% which is better than ASB. PETRONAS Chemicals Group Berhad is a dividend paying company with a current yield of 5.85% that is well covered by earnings. PCHEM's dividend (5.85%) is in the top 25% of dividend payers in the MY market (5.17%). This also means PCHEM's dividend payments are covered by its cash flows.
