There is a lot more to this than simple Market Making. As a small example, in the process of Market Making they are permitted to Short sell(Permitted Short Selling). In a rising market, how much of the short sell did they 'Fail to Deliver?' That they rolled over ? Do you know?

If the SC & Bursa have any concern for the retail investors, please investigate and correct the system.

The people who lose in this exercise are people who put in their life savings and in some cases even a part of their regular expense budget. They are the people who contribute to the economy of the country. Taking away their livelihood is not Smart Economics. ONLY the so-called 'SMART MONEY' benefits.

A company that has issued shares is required by law to DISCLOSE any dealing in its own shares.

When an IB issues a Structured Warrant on an Underlying share, they Market Make the underlying share.

Why are they not required to disclose the Market Making?

The same IB is also a Trader. How do you distinguish regular trading, Market Making on Warrants & Market Making on Underlying FOR Structured Warrants?

On the Bursa website. It says RSS(Regulated Short Selling) & IDSS(Intra Day Short Selling) is banned till Dec 31st 2020.

PSS (Permitted Short Selling) is not covered under the ban to enable Market Makers to 'Market Make'

GiantPanda, the question on my mind is Bursa has something called "Permitted Short Selling". The Short selling ban does not affect this category. It is permitted to allow "Market Makers" to "Market Make".

If there were any, then it's not just unethical. It's illegal. "Naked Short Selling". Why do the registered traders like us not have access to information on this?

i3gambler. I'm not really concerned about the response of the SC or the regulatory bodies. I am convinced the people have a domain feel of these Structured Derivatives. To be fair, the intent of the Regulatory Authorities was to expand economic activity. However, a small market like Malaysia is open and prone to manipulation. You may call it by different names (Market Making ??for example). It boils down to the same thing.Manipulation. Again, its a question of credibilty.

I'm not against derivatives but I oppose opacity, Disclosure is Imperative. Let the people know your market making data. How much underlying shares you hold. What was your daily buying and selling of the underlying shares.

Please know that there are funds outside watching this.Those that have no encumbrances to warrants or to the issuers of warrants. All they too care about is returns. So watch your step.

super_newbie, the sale of warrants on the exchange are between holders of warrants and buyers. The IB got its money from selling the Warrants in the first place.

Also, they do hedge in the mother share. Thats how they manipulate the price to suit the Exchange price of the warrant. You think any IB wants to pay RM 5 per Warrant on 30 Million Warrants? Worse if the REAL value of these shares are reached. Imagine RM 10 per Warrant on 30 Million Warrants !!!!

After that there are 2 more expiring in October. Bloody scheming, manipulating Investment Banks.

UPlanet, agreed the IB's will never lose on the CW. But that logic behind the CW is not correct. The price of the mother share can be manipulated to suit the Exercise price of the CW.
