Covid-19: 28 religious schools, Islamic kindergartens in Perak closed
IPOH (Oct 21): Twenty-one Al-Quran and Fardu Ain classes or KAFA-integrated religious schools (SAR) and seven Islamic kindergartens in Perak have been ordered to close from Oct 14 to 25 due to Covid-19 infection.
State Islamic religious and Information Committee chairman Mohd Akmal Kamarudin in a statement said the schools and kindergartens were located in Kinta, Manjung, Larut, Matang and Selama, Kerian and Hulu Perak.
In Manjung, he said the schools closed were Sekolah Rendah Agama Rakyat (SRAR) Kampung Tersusun Batu 7, SRAR Ittifaqiah, SRAR Al-Khairiah, SRAR Al-Aliah and SRAR Annasriah, as well as SAR Arshadiah and SRAR Abadiah.
In Larut, Matang and Selama, the schools closed are Madrasah Al Khairiyyah Islamiah and SRAR Darul Ehsan, whole in Kerian, the closure of schools involved SRAR Al-Ehya’ Addiniah, SRAR Al Hidayatul Islamiah, SRAR Nor Hidayah, SRAR Al-Irsyadiah, SRAR Khairiah Islamiah, SRAR Fadilah Islamiah, SRAR Al-Tahzib, SRAR An Najihin, SRAR Al Hidayah and SRAR Al Faizin, he said.
Mohd Akmal said in the Kinta district, SAR Al-Taufiqiah and SRAR Ar-Raudhatul Ulum in Chemor were also closed during the period.
He said the seven Islamic kindergartens closed were TIP Al-Hidayah, Batu Kurau; TIP Al-Hashimiah, Taiping; TIP An Nasriah, Sitiawan; TIP Al-Amin , Pengkalan Hulu; TIP Al-Hidayah, Parit Buntar; TIP As-Syakirin, Parit Buntar; and TIP Nurul Wardah in Kuala Kurau.
Meanwhile, Mohd Akmal said the Perak Islamic Religious Department had distributed the allocation totalling RM2.2 million to all registered religious schools in the state to carry out cleaning and disinfection of their facilities.

Are you living in a Covid-19 red zone? MoH lists 26 districts as hotspots
KUALA LUMPUR (Oct 21): The Ministry of Health (MoH) has listed 26 health districts and 46 sub-districts across Malaysia as Covid-19 red zones.
Based on data from Oct 7 until yesterday, the red zones — with over 40 active cases of Covid-19 — are located in Kedah, Penang, Perak, Selangor and Sabah.
Sabah has 16 health districts classified as red zones, the highest by state so far. They include Lahad Datu, Kota Kinabalu, Sandakan, Tuaran, Kunak, Papar, Semporna, Tawau, Putatan, Penampang, Ranau, Beaufort, Kota Belud, Keningau, Tambunan and Kudat.

Sabah has 6,017 active cases so far. Yesterday, the state reported 673 new cases, bringing the state’s tally of cumulative cases to 8,755.
In Selangor, five health districts are now red zones — Klang, Petaling, Gombak, Hulu Langat and Kuala Langat.
Selangor has 939 active cases, the second highest by state after Sabah. The state's total cases have reached 3,489.
Other red zones include Kota Setar and Pokok Sena in Kedah, Timur Laut and Seberang Perai Selatan in Penang, and Larut-Matang-Selama in Perak.
Malaysia reported 862 new cases yesterday, lifting total infections in the country to 22,225.

American pharmaceutical company Eli Lilly earlier this month said that it was pausing enrolment of its antibody treatment. Separately, Johnson & Johnson (J&J) said it was halting all trials of its experimental Covid-19 vaccine after one participant developed an adverse reaction.
In September, AstraZeneca, which works with the University of Oxford, stalled its vaccine trials but has since resumed the trials again.
China, meanwhile, was reported to have pledged that Malaysia, Thailand, Cambodia and Laos will be among the “priority” recipients of Chinese vaccines.

MIDF Research analyst Ng Bei Shan also said in a note today that it is still too early to conclude that the discovery of a vaccine could negatively impact average selling prices (ASPs) of gloves.
Recall that the news flow of vaccine development had dampened the performance of glove stocks. We opine that demand for gloves should remain high due to the mass administration of the vaccination required.

Consumers also have the right to terminate the contract, subject to the terms and conditions of the contract .However, MCMC said, the service provider would not be able to provide the best service to consumers if there is no cooperation from the latter to solve the problems.

From October onwards, the banking industry will be providing a targeted moratorium extension.
Borrowers who can take the targeted moratorium extension are those that have lost their jobs this year and have yet to find a job, who will be offered an extension of the loan moratorium for a further three months, as well as borrowers that are still in employment but have had their salaries affected due to Covid-19, who will be offered a reduction in loan instalments in proportion to their salary reduction depending on the type of financing.

With the blanket automatic loan moratorium coming to an end next week, banks have contacted more than two million borrowers to offer loan repayment assistance after Sept 30, according to CIMB Group Holdings Bhd's group chief executive officer (CEO) Datuk Abdul Rahman Ahmad.
Speaking at a media briefing, Rahman said the banks have managed to speak to 1.4 million borrowers of the over two million contacted. Currently, more than 380,000 contacted customers have confirmed that they require loan repayment assistance.
