I suspect some of the buyers do not understand how to calculate the price of index-based warrants

Price of warrants at expiry = ( Settlement Price - Exercise Level) / Exercise Ratio x FX Rate

e.g C14
Settlement Price will be determined on March 30th
FX Rate is exchange rate HK$/MYR which is around 0.5. SUSPECT SOME BUYERS ARE NOT AWARE OF THIS
Price of warrants at expiry = ( Settlement Price - 20,200) / 900 x 0.5

The final settlement price is based on index futures contracts on March 30th but trading of warrants ends today

According to the daily summary below, even after 5 Fed officials' suggestion that the next rate hike may come in April, "but that sentiment remains at odds with the fed funds futures market, which sees only a 14.0% chance of a rate hike at the upcoming policy meeting. The market sees a 40.0% chance of a hike in June while expectations for a hike in July are running at 51.0%."

I know the market maker is not around tomorrow and next Monday because of holidays, but is trading of HSI warrants still on the next 2 days? I believe so but I can not recall.

yea missed the boat. Looks like the drop is mainly due to interest rate anticipation that it could come as early as April. All 5 Fed officials said the same thing (one of them is a voting member). Instead of up down up down, we may see down trend.

rchi, what do you mean "something is wrong wth genting"? Is it too dangerous to buy Genting warrants?

HSI future is -250 or -1.24%, I just think it is way too much that I suspect will rebound

The exercise price of HT is 19,400. Will earn something if the index future is below 19,400 when expiry.

HSI-HU 20,800 28 Apr 16

HSI-HT is out-of-money right now, in fact the difference is 10,000 points, so its price will not move as fast as HU. HT will move faster the closer it is towards 19,400. HU is in-the-money right now.

so we have to monitor oil price. So far oil price drops a little

Dow dropped 0.45%, so assuming same percentage, HSI future will drop to 25500. If it drop too much, maybe will buy call warrant instead

Ruggedfix, I am afraid so. Usually people do not hold the warrants too long, maybe less than an hour, a few hours, the next day, or a few days. Hope you take some time to study the call/put warrants, I am sure you can earn your money back.

rchi, Genting warrants are the ones that I regret the most selling early. Genting-WA was lower than RM1 when you first recommended. C26 was less than 12 sen

yup, this C14 is more for intra-day trades at the moment

US data tonight may not move the market by much. Maybe little price movement, so not worth the risk to buy C/H now. I will wait tomorrow morning

last night the US Existing Home Sales data were worse than expected. 2 Federal Reserve officials supported the case for a hike in interest rates sooner rather than later.

Atlanta Fed President Dennis Lockhart said there was sufficient economic momentum to justify a further rate hike "possibly as early as the meeting scheduled for end of April".

San Francisco Federal Reserve Bank President John Williams told Market News International that April or June would be "potential times for a rate hike." if economic data provides a backdrop for such a policy move.
