Wei Jie Yau, you should not put most of your capital in risky warrants. Some more you are newbie

lengjoe, usually I only play small during intra-day if I play rebound or pull back. Like today earn small money 1-2 sen but suddenly minus 2 sen

lengjoe, most markets are strong. The market sentiment is bullish. But of course some may argue it is close to short-term peak.

lengjoe, I am told not to put more than 10% of capital into risky instruments like warrants. Of course you can ignore this advice if you win more often than you lose

Wei Jie Yau, I thought you earned some good money this morning? Did you take profit?
2016-03-17 23:07 | Report Abuse
Wei Jie Yau, I always say we can only make prediction in the morning. Have to see how the Dow ends the day, how the oil ends the day and have to check the latest news

the call and put warrants track HSI future, not HSI itself.
you can check the HSI future here. There are trades after market closes -- from 5pm to midnight

Wei Jie Yau, you can buy the day before news and sell it the next day. Worth the risk. You can sell partially or all. Today is supposed to be profit taking day
2016-03-17 15:00 | Report Abuse
Wei Jie Yau, I have not sold. may wait tomorrow. See how first.
StingRay, I intend to keep as long as it does not drop below 20,400

Usually I took profit before HSI lunch break. Today I did not and it turned out to be a bad idea.

opening up 300 points consider quite a lot. It is tough to determine if high will will get higher. It is better to sell bit by bit

very small trading range... I am afraid we should be happy with small profit. For some people, this may not be worth the risk

I posted this last week:
as you know, warrants lose value faster when they approach expiry date. How bad is it? Here is an example.
HSI-C14, expiry on 30 March 2016, exercise price 20,200. Assuming HSI future constant at 20,200, and constant Implied Volatility at 31.4%
March 8 RM0.352
March 9 RM0.344
March 10 RM0.336
March 11 RM0.328
March 12 RM0.319
March 13 RM0.311
March 14 RM0.302
March 15 RM0.292
March 16 RM0.283
March 17 RM0.273
March 18 RM0.262
March 19 RM0.252
March 20 RM0.240
March 21 RM0.228
March 22 RM0.215
March 23 RM0.202
March 24 RM0.187
March 25 RM0.171
March 26 RM0.153
March 27 RM0.133
March 28 RM0.109
March 29 RM0.077
March 30 0
HSI-C14 loses about 1 sen a day with 2-3 weeks remaining, and loses about 2-3 sen a day with 1 week remaining. Therefore it is more suitable for intra day trade as it approaches expiry date.
- you can get the info above from
https://www.malaysiawarrants.com.my/tools
- select Tool and Charts menu
- select Warrant Calculator
- enter the name of the warrant in the search box, eg HSI-C14

but company warrants must wait longer. I know some traders are playing index-based warrants everyday, and often a few times per day.
