GST is taxed on consumer not businesses. So even if GST zero rated the benefit will go to consumers.
However, because consumer save on GST, 5.66% they have more purchasing power. With purchasing power, assumption is sales in shopping mall increases. Retailers will benefit. Indirectly because the rental is based on gross rental and base rental the gross element will increase due to higher sales. Hence shopping malls are expected to benefit.

Wow now MRT3 also scrapped. (https://www.thestar.com.my/news/nation/2018/05/30/govt-scraps-mrt-3-project/)
How much did the previous government actually stole from the coffers?
It seems to becoming serious....

Dunno why so unlucky today klse all fall :-(
Hopefully it is temporary.

If we buy today will we still enjoy the special dividend? Not really sure?
I am also quite bullish on this stocks especially with the coming tax holiday for at least 2 months, i think the pent-up demand will help the revenue.
As for the dividend, i am in agreement with ahgoo and RainT

My view point on the stock:-
The + points for Carlsberg
1) World Cup for 2018 in June
2) Better consumer sentiment
3) innovation from new brands such as Apple Cider
The Risk:-
1) Government Risk - Not sure what is the direction for new govt..

i already forecast earlier to be careful of this counter b4 election. No use keeping politically linked stocks the risk is just not worth it. From RM2.50 b4 GE14 to now RM1.20.... good luck to those who still keep.
The next few months up to 100 days will still be volatile... So many new policies coming in. Thankfully got the Council of Elders. Hopefully, they will be able to steer Malaysia clear of any headwinds.

Pakatan Harapan promise in 1st day to 100th day of taking government is abolish GST. If they u - turn they will look like idiots... probably they will zero rate all GST items.
Election play is on now. Only after election, certainty will come. Lets hope the better side wins

MyEG will be in trouble if Pakatan Harapan wins the election.... their gst softwares will be null & void because there will be no more gst.
Too much election uncertainty.

how is a company able to challenge a free tv such as tvbox. No way. Even DVD sellers are now resorting to selling wan-tan mee nowadays.... whatabout Astro. Only reason they are still surviving is because the oldies are reluctant to change. Year on year Astro continue to increase their prices but offer little value in exchange. More people will cut the cord and Astro will be in deeper red.

most of all my beef is with the crappy dividend. 3.5 cents...i.e yield of 0.6%
2018-02-23 09:57 | Report Abuse
unable to see silver lining in this stock:-
1) EU palm oil ban
2) Liberia plantations - halt planting
3) Crappy dividends
4) Downstream is down yet still buying Ruchi Soya... ??? another EagleHigh ala Felda?
5) Lower expected CPO prices of RM2500 to RM2600 compared with realised of RM2706pmt.
Pls advise if my observations are right.

i myself dont understand the reason why the share price shoot up so high but i came away positive when i saw many POSM in Aeon Big & ohher leading supermarket recently. No other FMCG companies came close in beating Nestle with their promotion. In fact for CNY, the bulk of my purchase came from Nestle products. Its tangible and clearly indicates they are the market leader in each of their categories. anyhow, i am holding to this shares as how calvintaneng said the RM appreciation should help nestle. Of course buying this shares is not a good idea due to the 42x pe. Lets wait and see the Quarterly results. I am quite concerned on the dividend yield for this stocks.
Positives:-
1) RM appreciation - cost become cheaper
2) Consumer sentiment still suppressed - will be better moving forward
3) Consumer staples
4) Market leader in their category
5) Sterling management performance
Cons
1) Share price too high
2018-01-29 17:15 | Report Abuse
what is the reason it went up so high? dunno.. is it because of CNY. Everybody buying Nestle products. Nestle is also so agressive in their marketing... free coffee, container, product, etc... just came back from Aeon BIG and was impressed with Nestle marketing. Do you see other fmcg companies doing that in the supermarkets? one whole section of the aisle is kept just for Nestle.

Just came back from majority of banks for loan... MBB offered indicative effective ir at 4.15%, CIMB@4.25%, Affin @4.3%, PBB@4.52%, UOB@4.3%, HSBC @ 4.55%. Why MBB BR so low until they can outbid all other banks? So aggressive... isnt it prove to you that amongst all banks MBB is best because they can get so much of business? Who here dont own MBB account? Practically everyone uses MBB one way or another. But yet i still dont understand why MBB languishing below RM10 with Dividend yield around 5+%. Isnt it undervalued?

Question is not to shoppers but to tenants (i.e Shopping mall tenants). If you are in the retail business, which mall in Malaysia is the best in terms of sales? Your answer will tell you the reason why difference in PE is so high.

However, consumer confidence is affected by many factors not only GST. There are also others such as economy, job security, exchange rate etc. Hence, while having said the above, the benefits to consumer is not as clear cut. Only time will tell.
