# mike, I tend to agree with rchi that it is a pricey at this moment even though it has plenty of cash/reserves and has been paying out dividends. If you would like to have a second opinion, kcchongz would be the person to give his analysis on whether it is is indeed pricey using parameters like intrinsic value and margin of safety etc.
As for whether to buy now or after the split, no one can predict but if my experience tells me, normally for these of counters it should go up. Again it depends on market sentiment like yesterday as the lackluster trading has resulted in TNlogistics going down after the split.

I also believe that FA is better than TA over the longer term as to me, minimal risk is of utmost importance. I always emphasized to the newbies and those who have limited funds one statement - "Just remember, you can afford not to win, but can you afford to lose". It is human nature for people to focus on making money in the stock market but rarely think of the situation when they lose. The worst is that some (who trade beyond their means) are so hurt by the losses to the extent that every other thing is adversely affected - work, family, mood, lifestyle etc.

On a lighter note, I also like baked beans especially Heinz as they are free from preservatives. favoring and coloring

KUALA LUMPUR: Datasonic Group Bhd’s (DSONIC 5216) net profit for its third quarter ended Sept 2013 almost tripled to RM23.44mil from RM8.13mil a year ago due to higher revenue and cost management.
Its revenue for the quarter rose 30.6% to RM69.9mil from RM53.5mil a year ago from the supply of smartcards.
Earnings per share stood at 17.37 sen against 6.02 sen a year ago.
For its year-to-date, the group’s net profit more than doubled to RM59mil from RM24.3mil a year ago while revenue rose 37% to RM188.1mil from RM136.7mil a year ago.
Moving forward, the group said its prospect are positive as the group is expected to continue to perform better in the remaining period, barring any unforeseen circumstances.

(a) The scheme - 1 free warrant for every 2 existing shares
(b) Aug 27 (day before ex)- mother share closed at 38 sen. If one has purchased 2 units to get a free warrant he would have to pay 76 sen (38 x (b) Sep 09 - listing of warrant which opened at 10.5 sen, let's say 11 sen. The price of the adjusted mother share was 29 sen.
(c) so in paying 76 sen for 2 mother shares and get the free warrant, why not on Sept 9 , you enter 2 mother shares by paying 58 sen (29 x 2) and buy 1 warrant at 11 sen, meaning you a total of only 69 sen (7 sen or about 9% cheaper than buying before ex-date to get the free warrant

This is just for the case in Instacom and may not apply to others as it all depends on the price before ex-date, the listing price of the warrant and other factors.

# connie - if I am anot mistaken, it means on 2nd Dec, there will an additional listing of 162K shares (arising out of ESOS) in Bursa for trading. Hence I reckon there will be some selling pressure as the staff paid only 34 sen for the shares and most would want to sell upon listed. It then depends whether there is support from the market.

# mike - I have played the 2 counters before and made quick and small money from both. Now the current prices are between 15 to 20 sen higher than my sales price. As you probably know I do not use TA or FA. Normally these counters have very low activity but became part of a rotational play of late. The financials for both are quite solid (of course kcchongnz would be the best person to provide the analysis). However based on recent price movements I reckon UMSNGB may be a beter buy for trading as the volume is still there whilst EITA at times can have very low activity. But you have to be prepared to hold for a long term basis should the market turns quiet - just my opinion.
