@newbiedoobie

You need to understand first what sort of investor are you? Are you in it for the short term or are you into long play? Secondly you need to look at MBB past 10-year trend and see which is the highest price it ever achieve (RM11.08 in 7 May 2018) and research why during that period it was high. Will the reason causing it to increase to that high can ever repeat itself? Next look at the DY % - for me, as long as it is higher that and savings fund returns you can get, then it is a no brainer. You age will certainly be a consideration in this. If you are about to retire and want to build a sustainable, consistent return for your monthly expenses, then consider whether Harimau meet your needs, assuming an average annual dividend rate of RM0.60 sens per share, ceterus paribus, that would be your answer. Hope this gives you an idea on how to consider when to go in.

I believe the Saudi's decision to not renew the 50 year Petro Dollar agreement and Malaysia's intention to join BRICS nation and hence less affected by the USD is a contributory effect to Malaysia prospects as well. Among other things, the unstable geopolitical scene has somewhat benefited Malaysia in the semiconductor field and the current reforms a move in the right sector. Another plus point is that the KLCI is in low 1600 points, still room to improve to at least mid 1600 mark. As long as no more huge financial scandals, unforeseen calamities and no sudden economic policies to shake up the market, I think the only way for the market is upwards.

Some quietly use their brains to make money. Others use them only to make silly comments which doesn't benefit anyone including themselves and end up wondering why life has been unkind to them and why bad luck always befall them. That is because they don't realise that the negativity energy that they exude only serves to attract other negative energy into their lives. Be careful what you wish for, your genes will suffer because of your indiscretion. I can tell that you are not well off as those with money would not waste their time sprouting rubbish no mater under which fake user profile.

Best summed up by the Sociologist, Oscar Lewis in his study, Cultural of Poverty theory. It states that .. 'that people born into poverty become adapted to poor mindsets. His theory was that those mindsets cause people in poverty to continue in poverty and pass it down generation after generation..'

@Sumbody Actually I used to think like you that Bonus Issue is a good thing but someone shared in another forum post that Bonus Issue is not necessarily good as it will dilute the shares and share prices will be less fluid. IMO while I would love to have 'more' shares (value the same), I prefer the shares to be more exclusive and limited for prices to shoot up.

@sumbody I wish when ytlp share price above Rm6 will announce bonus issue

Luckily I don't anyhow follow any 'Guru' blindly but rely on my own research and searching for knowledge. Users like @Dragon328 and a few others have been very kind to share their knowledge with the group to which I am sure many like me are very grateful to these forumers. To date my 'paper gain' is 37% - YTLP alone contribute over 600+%. All I want to say is one cannot make all money every counter as we have limited resources to begin with. To those so called experts please keep your investment ideas to yourselves. Many like me will only read up useful info from serious YTLP investors like @Dragon328 and a few others. We treat all other investment advice and ideas as just 'white noise'. Peace

Another Bumi company success in delisting. That's why I very very hesitant to invest in Bumi companies. VERY VERY RISKY. This one joins Sumatec in Devy Jones Locker. RIP. I also lost money in Sumatec, the first Bumi company stock that I owned - sorry to bilis if they badly burned as well. Next time don't blindly follow 'Bumi this Bumi that'. Sometimes your greatest enemy is your own kind. Peace

Lol, I find all the post on the share price price falling funny. Remunds me of Chicken Little on the falling sky. This is generally same pattern across all markets due to lower expectations on rate cuts on US so capital markets retreated a little. For serious investors here, if I were you, don't even bother to pander to all the trolls here by justifying the fall in price. If you are like the rest of the shrew investors, keep silent, bid you time and grab offers when it arises. Only fools will go around screaming the sky is falling all the time. Hilarious really

@GungHo123 YTL has been releasing their QR in last week Aug/ first week Sept since 2015. I highly doubt they will change anytime soon. One possible explanation is that since YTL is a holding company, any benefit to YTLP will spillover to YTL since YTLP expected to release QR today (usually Thursday this week)

@stkoay actually equity investing is not complicated compared to crypto. in stock investing, the information and signs are aplenty. the trick is separating the gems from the rubbish in information. you see Madani government already directed EPF to invest more locally to boost economy - the multiplier effect comes into play. also, when price suddenly goes up all of sudden, something must be happening behind close doors e.g. MAHB - prior to announcement of buy back, the price kept climbing for few weeks, obviously the stake holders are in the know and would suddenly buy without triggering the limit up. same happened to YTLP. you suddenly see directors start buying back in dec 2022, you know that something is up. true enough in april 2023 when the NETR was again pushed by the govenment, the stock flew. i bought it back in June 2022 when i noticed that the price was 2d lowest at 0.67 compared to April the same year at 0.45. and the RE business is definitely the way forward. the global energy business is an important one. so same like banking. its stable in good times and unless some unforeseen happen, unlikely to fail. BNM is quite good i managing the country's finances. the last part is the guts and means factor - you must have the courage and resources to go in when the time is right. this is based on your stock investing experiences, something you will develop if you invest and monitor long enough. oh and one more thing. one cannot be too emotional when it comes to investing. To quote Meja:

"It's all about the money"

@Raymond Thank you for the 2009 Forbes article. Really gives me an idea on what TS vision and direction. Based on said article, looks like he almost always invest in good businesses and not withstanding any external surprises, our investment into YTLP is likely a sound one for many more years to come.

He is nearing 70 years of age, hopefully he can continue to helm the empire for many years to come too.

@i3gambler Thanks for the simplified explanation. Saves me the time to explain to my friend when I just send him your explanation. Also, buying cheap shares (DRIP usually sold at low price) will ensure you get more dividend in the future OR if you also decide to relinquish your portfolio in future, you will still be getting that amount (or higher) back then. Thats what I love about DRIP

@Agjl You're welcome. All of us here share for the benefit of one another - well at least some like @dragon328 and a few others anyway).

I normally look at the share technical charts to see the trade and volume pattern as well to determine if the time is right to go in (one of the many expensive lessons learned along the way in equities investments. I take analysts TP as a guide but with a pinch of salt.

Even my remisier told me once that he also dont trust 100% what his Broking firm analysts share out. Who knows what hidden agenda these brokerage firms have at stake with their investments as well.

I usually only trade in stocks with consistent dividend payout and with solid fundamentals. Like what was shared in the other forum, I'll also share what Warren Buffet once said, invest in the Business you understand. I try and avoid seasonal businesses. REIT is a good stock to hold but risk from interest in OPR ad maybe life changing events like Covid. Financial market in a growing economy is a good choice as well. The days banks when fail, no hope already for the country. Anyway Malaysian Banks if no scandal are a pretty safe bet for me. Meanwhile RE is the way forward now as Madani Govt is pushing hard for it. So it's a no-brainer for an opportunistic investment.

Hope you find your trade and business you believe in too. Btw, I never get sentimental over my stock portfolio. For me it's all about the DY and how it will provide me cashflow in the long run. Day trading is not really my cup of tea as it requires constant monitoring and my time, a luxury which I rather not waste on looking at the stocks daily. Stressful and may not necessarily be rewarding all the time. Above all, hold on to your conviction and DO YOUR OWN RESEARCH as well. Good Luck!

@Agjl I believe the fortune for RE sector has a shelf life like all industries where eventually the barriers to entry to this monopolistic industry will be lowered for competition. I heard a industrial analyst or fund maager from US (if unmistaken) on BFM recently who said that RE industry life around 2-3 years before healthy competition comes in. YTLP benefit is not only in RE but tech and utilities as well. So the appeal is there. IMO whether to realise profit or not from YTLP depends on your age and your expectation and financial goals. Equities are just investments to get you nearer to your financial goals. If you are young can enjoy the small yearly dividend and enjoy seeing the paper profit OR realise the huge gain and invest into other equities with better higher dividend. For example, I am targeting for YTLP to have enough profit to buy MBB shares that pay out a dividend of RM0.60 (usually RM0.58 annually) compared to YTLP RM0.06. Basically I translate the paper gain to actual stock price and my dividend will be 4 times annually from MBB (roughly 60+ years of forward dividend from YTLP in advance) compared to if I didn't switch at all. So no right or wrong but rather my personally goal to earn passive income from my portfolio of dividend stocks. Downside? I might miss out of extraordinary profits from sale of assets and special dividends when YTLP eventually diversify its portfolio.

Stock

I will eventually cash out above 4.60 to 5.50, I will then pump my money into Maybank and increase my annual dividends 400%. While I will miss YTLP eye candy, my pocket lined with $$$ more important

@Stkoay agree. when FF exit and big boys come in, only a matter of time when FF will come again. That time the stocks will fly. Of course big boys will exit to take profit. All these horse trading happens all the time. The trick is when to come in and scoop on the cheap. So as long as KLCI is below 1600 points sure got many more opportunities. At mid 1600 the gravy train will slow down considerably and even stop. the highest was 1800s during the bull run of yester years. Just sharing my thoughts with all here. Dont flame me ya
