what has Russian debt got to do with Malaysian banks? Malaysia borrows from US not Russia so we may be affected by US Fed but not Russia.

@moneyontheway I am not the correct person to advise you on which type of stocks to invest - that would be your remisier or broker who is more qualified. like many others here I based my investment decisions on reading as much as possible on whats happening in the country, the industry and related environment. knowledge is power. once you find a stock that interests you, read up on the industry. monitor the price movement for past few years to get an idea of the volatility of the share price, follow warren buffet in investing in the company (for its future growth potential), above all do not follow any of us here say what or what not to buy. god knows the internet is full of trolls who are full of malice and ill intent - as they say, misery loves company.
Any company under PN17 has 12 months to get their sh*t in order and improve the books and forward such plans to Bursa. If after this 12 months, no improvement in company financial standings, they will be delisted by Bursa. Whether one would invest in PN17 would depend on how much of a risk you can afford to lose. I have a low tolerance for losses so I wont now as I once did not monitor my share portfolio when i started investing and invested in a penny stock which was quickly when under PN17 and that company is still under PN17 till today (4 years after they were suspenses), every day when I look at my stock portfolio, I see this PN17 sitting there showing a BIG NEGATIVE figure reminding me to monitor my shares. lesson learned and now i move on.
On the brokerage commission, I manage to reduce the brokerage charged by my broker from 0.24% to 0.1% after 12 months of trading when they had a promotion to enlist new investors last year. I read somewhere that Rakuten is cheaper 0.05% (o be confirm) - you would have to see what sort of support they give you. Most broker charge you cheap if you trade cash account and not margin account and you also fly solo. no support from your broker on any advice. I am lucky my remisier still advises me on my queries from time to time from what is heard from the grapevine in the stock brokers fraternity. although this I take with pinch of salt and read up to find out more - caveat emptor is the name of the game. At the end of the day, its your money, you do not have to be loyal to any 1 broker, you can transfer your CDS account which contains shares you have bought to another broker which gives you a lower fee in order for you to quickly dispose off your stocks. Previously my broker charged me high fee as they also give me credit account which i dont need as I trade with my own money. You should take charge of your account as its your right and money at the end of the day.

Of course price might drop at Ex-Date. This one experience investors will also tell you. sometime in the near future price will also drop and then increase or increase then drop. Dunno when la, but some time in future. cyclical markets exists bcos some investors enter and some exit. normal to expect so

@stkoay yes, the 'new' guy was actually from MBB Indonesia before and now rejoin MBB. Interestingly he joined RHB in 2014 and promoted to GMD and GCEO in 2015. The bank performance started to improve from year 2015 after a poor performance from previous years. certainly good news. Am sure MBB would have the blessing from BNM for the appointment too. A lot is at stake for the biggest banking group in Malaysia
2022-03-07 12:29 | Report Abuse
Yes bro, agreed. Also MBB management is very experience and capable, like PBB's management, so no need to worry on it being a going concern. if both falls, I am more worried on the country's future instead

@stockgeek not necessarily the case especially lately due to the uncertainty. IGBReit failed to go up prior to ex-date even thought dividend also back to pre-C19 and it has been falling almost ever since. the mall is packed by the way. but the believe that rental assistance to retailers are still there so this affects too

to be expected, no surprises there. this morning when I saw Wall Street drop before Bursa open, knew Bursa would also very likely drop as well. most stock market will follow/track regional stock market or wall street and Bursa is no different. also we know that profit taking is normal for day traders especially there is a very high increase.
Saw a video on Warren Buffet and the take away is this.. he was asked which stocks to invest in. he replied that he buys businesses that are good meaning that have a GOOD future and STRONG management. invest in the business that you (really) KNOW and not follow or time the market (trend) and don't buy value stocks (or 'soggy cigars' with one puff left as he calls them) bcos they are cheap as gains are short term. buy for the forward potential of the company business. and if you can see yourself holding on the stock for 10 years, then buy it. meanwhile just sit back and don't have any knee jerk reactions to shake your belief in that company stock. sounds like a plan if you ask me

@choysun I asked IB during Zoom call yesterday on Tenaga regarding possibility to breach of rm9 and they said strong resistance, potential for uprrise. nevertheless, but let's see if I can get Farm Fresh IPO this week, otherwise will rebook at TnB. just be careful as IRB is appealing the Tax outcome (and not so easy to give up as a lot at stake for them - several years to collect and a case reference for other companies as well) and the recent dividend is not that fantastic to attract demand for TnB

@michaelgohmox nope, it fell bcos profit taking, its normal. also EPF doing its duty of maximising returns for its members. so we have to be thankful as well

the drop in price is expected due to C19 cases going up everyday. you must understand that fund managers dont want to lose their job due to factors outside their control. they are taking precaution. these fund managers can be local or foreign. just hold and in time recovery will take place. the economy cannot forever keep falling. Q1, 2022 will see price increase as malls started getting heavier foot falls. the only reason it falls other than C19 is the possible upcoming election which almost always affect share price. Unless you company relies on using O&G, the war in europe would not negatively affect much. yesterday was just a knee jerk reaction. steady guys and you will be rewarded. like I always said before, someone is shaking the durian tree to see which durians can be collected. hold on to your durians and remember why you bought the durians in the first place.

Declared a 2nd interim dividend of 30 sen/share (7.5 sen electable for reinvestment under DRP). This brings total dividends for FY21 to 58 sen/share (payout: 84.5%), slightly higher than our estimate of 53 sen/share.

@Stkoay, Sifu, PBB total dividend for 2021 is 76 sens (15.2 sen * 5). Returns (if before BI) is 0.76/21.40=3.55% (21.40 = 4.28 * 5). MBB is 58 sens. Returns is 0.58/8.77=6.61%. (All prices are opening before Div announcement). So I think MBB returns better for 2021.
2022-02-25 12:49 | Report Abuse
Dividend @ 7.7 sen. So total for 2021 is 7.7 + 7.5 = 15.2 sen. If before BI, that's 15.2 * 5 = 76 sens for 2021. Before announcement, opening price was 4.28 * 5 i.e. 21.40. Therefore returns for 2021 is 0.76 / 21.40 = 3.55%. Not too bad, would say on par with others. Better than 2019 which was 73 sens. My return is 4.0%, not great, but not bad either.
