@investmalaysia618 me too, had traded in both before. for now keeping an eye out for Greatech again but hope to get below rm4, the other is Inari which is the fan favourite. others in my sights are also Atech. but all too high atm if u ask me.
you might also want to look at IGBReit... and see who's buying them. not only EPF buy their management is mopping up the shares.. so it is worth taking a look before next QR which should be +ve

@geniusraider that strategy may differ for everyone and i have my fair share of being burned. guess experience is not cheap. whatever the strategy, best advice i can share is to always keep aside some spare cash in your trading account to grab fire sale stocks and to be on the look out for opportunity. to be honest I am currently also eyeing opportunity to go into 1 or 2 tech stocks when it goes down lower again. future opportunities for a slice of the PV and EV business is indeed seductive

@stkoay 4 sen since last year, which is bad. I noticed that PNB does not give priority to non ASB funds and dividend always lower than ASB. maybe this is my cue to liquidate my ASM funds (perhaps sell to my sibling) and focus on equities or even plow to EPF for higher returns

@ choysun, @geniusraider I married late and am now in early 50s. took a break from working to focus on family and first child - 13 months baby boy due to difficulty in hiring reliable nanny. hopefully can go back to work for that last leg of the rat race before i kick the bucket :-)

My ex-banker brother told me to look at banks like Harimau (as an example of good businesses - he is a Warren Buffet fan too!) and I had then noticed Harimau dividend very stable over the last decade (usually around rm 0.5x) and have just started investing into Banking stocks in preparation of the improving C19 situation and eventual reopening of the economy - manage to bought my first PBB share at its lowest pre-Bonus issue price @ RM14.96 (or RM2.992 post BI price). Also I noticed that MBB is a very defensive stock with price stable at 7.95 - 8.05 during last year. of course sharing your thoughts on this stock helped sealed the deal for me - I invested a little at MBB at 8.08-8.10 and then dispose all my Tenaga portfolio and bid my time (waiting for 'fire sale' opportunity) before putting 'all in' into Harimau and managed to buy a lifetime opportunity at the brief time price at rm7.99 on 29 Nov 2021 (which was the lowest it ever got before it shot up and never reach that price again) dollar cost averaging my MBB portfolio - FYI I had parked my 7.99 order into queue for 30 days which was at the time priced around rm8.08 - 8.10. after around 1.5 weeks, my orders went thru. I was confident in our banking system and that price will go up as dividend announcement for Q4 will eventually come bringing good news for the country's biggest financial institution. usually before the price goes up prior to the quarterly reports, IBs will shake the durian tree to get stocks from weak retailers who will panic and sell. thats the time to mop up all the shares at the price you want. the rest as they say is history.

@stkoay am like you a little bit mature so yeah invest heavier on safe businesses like Harimau (if only can hari hari mau haha) and the other is PBB atm. My ratio in bank stocks as follows.... PBB:MBB is 20:80. My equity portfolio atm consists of approximately 70% in Bank stocks, 25% in other high yield stocks and remaining 5% standby cash for opportunity buys. I invested heavily in Bank stocks as it is recovery play and due to the defensive stocks as this will be my nest egg portfolio. the remaining 30% opportunity buys will be rotated depend on value stocks or dividend stocks at the time of buying opportunity.
I used to be heavy in Genting (approximately 50%) but sold all of my GenT (5.06) and GenM (3.07) stocks to lock in the profits during the high price volatility and have since diversify all my stock holdings from both shares last year and bought Harimau.

@stkoay Sifu, check out Warren Buffet's theory on investing and what he thinks on diversification. He advocates investing 75% portfolio on only 3 good businesses whilst his friend Charlie Munger says 6 good businesses. I can settle for 3 but so far I have only found 2 in my portfolio. Which do you agree and have you achieve your goal of achieving the total number?

@Maverickeking bro, I must admit my shareholdings is little in PBB cause by the time i buy PBB, the price too high already, thats why I didnt top up anymore. FYI my ratio in bank stocks as follows.... PBB:MBB is 20:80, if you read MBB forum you would have a rough idea of how much I invested in MBB. My equity portfolio atm consists of approximately 70% in Bank stocks, 20% in REIT and 5% in Entertainment and 5% standby cash for fire sale stocks. I invested heavily in Bank stocks as it is recovery play and due to the defensive stocks as this will be my retirement funds and something to pass to my kid when I leave this world. For REIT property and Gaming entertainment is for higher risk and higher returns - the former can be affected by interest rate hikes and the latter due to sin tax and religious influence on political issue. I would however like to invest back Tenaga and Genting but not for the time being as my funds are working hard to recover back in REIT for steady DY. Genting has too many speculators and day traders and not for the weak hearted

@sharefisher it's okay, its more a fact finding on investor behaviour when they are so defensive about their respective stock. you should see MBB forum, they share freely, dont mean anything really, I noticed that those who invested a lot usually steady and calm as investors. usually those who speculate and day trade will jump up and down

Good morning peeps!... I am curious as whether the amount of investment in a stock will correlate to an investor being loyal to that stock. Could you share if your level of investment in MBB falls under which the following:
1. Below RM50K;
2. RM50K-RM100K;
3. RM100K-RMRM500K;
4.above RM500K.
Just curious and intended to be a fun fact discovery and nothing more.

aiyoh, you all want to guess whether this counter good or not, look at who's buying up the shares. even the director is buying up a lot of the shares, if she is confident as she is working at MV, and access to all foot fall data, financials, why be scared? Look, even EPF also grabbing lots. why you all not confident like them? you think this is Serbak meh?
like Chinese proverb, in times of trouble, there is danger and opportunity.

yes, unit trust is only for those who do not have the time to monitor their funds and rather employ fund managers to manage their money taking a lower returns along the way. useful if you want to temporary park your cash for a few years if and when you are young and to use your cash for down payment for a house. EPF is when you are older and you have other cash laying around for emergency funds.
For EPF, if and when it is multi-tiered, I will seriously consider taking all out and investing in other countries
2022-03-25 15:18 | Report Abuse
well, they sure as hell won't consider PBB if given the choice (for obvious reasons)

@geniusraider agreed with you. have another source of passive income to prepare for all scenarios.
@Sharefisher, I bought my first PBB at RM14.96 (small lots to test water) or RM2.992 (after BI), then loaded up my PBB stocks to take full advantage of the BI, now averaging RM3.796 which I agree is a good buy too. Timing with some spare cash for 'chance' buy sitting around is always a good thing rather than tie up all cash into equities to make them work and miss the opportunity when it arises

@moneyontheway
I am sure many bros and sistas here will agree with me when I share my honest opinion and best advise. You will need to follow this rules:
1. wash your hands;
2. wear your face masks when going outside;
3. dont gamble with your hard earn money;
4. dont speculate in the stock market;
5. park your cash with EPF. lord knows we have some of the best fund managers there, at worst 2.5% returns, at best above 6.00% returns annually (conventional la).
6. lastly the most important of all, dont ask or listen to investment advise from any one here or anywhere else who may not understand your financial position and may have extra spare cash to burn compared to you or have ulterior motives, especially not from she males who will ask you to f**k off at the slightest chance she gets.
Meanwhile, good luck and may the force be with you!

As my brother (an ex-banker) used to say, Banking stocks are usually a sure bet as even in financially bad times, banks have assets like land and buildings to dispose of to stay afloat so the risk is minimise. banks as the financial back bone of the country, if like in the US during the great depression, no other stocks will be safe as well. banks will be the last to go

@moneyontheway you're welcome. yes i can get a little long winded sometimes. sign of old age perhaps? my experience has been a very expensive teacher. i wont mention my broker name but i will just give you small clues. 'my broker cannot recommend this stock' and they won a few awards from Euromoney. if you know the answer just say 'i got it. thanks!'
My broker charge is 0.1% or min. RM8 per transaction. not that good. reason i stayed on is bcos of this remisier i was with for a long time and can consider a friend now. so to me since my transactions are quite a sum, the rm8 not really an issue to me. on your case, talk to your remisier to ask him to lower your transaction (i did asked mine and told him that I trade with my own money without credit facility and place my own orders without anyone's help so I should enjoy lower rates), and show them that other brokers are cheaper (just make sure compare apple with apple - cash account only, no margin account). if you trade big enough or they value you enough to retain you, they will reduce as 'special case - dont tell anyone' if they dont, then you may like to follow what sreemani1316 suggestion to change broker, you just need to register with a new broker at RM10 and transfer fee of RM10 per stock (if not mistaken). check out the link and install the app now.
