Interestingly, having gone through many rounds of major and minor stock market falls, never heard of any analysts asking people to liquidate and keep cash. No matter it is at peak or at bottom, they will still have buy recommendations, ofcourse different type of stocks each time.

I don't know who CP Teh is until recently see so many comments and attacks on him. So this is like free publicity for him.
Looking back at his blogs and comments, I am not impressed nor interested at all to spend money attending his class. That is my own choice, but I don't see any need to attack him.

I saw a lot of attacks on him recently which go very very personal and not related to investment at all. I also saw a lot taunts on him quoting him as "math teacher", which i think this creates an impression that the investment community might seem to be looking down or paying less respect to teachers. It might not be the case, but it may create false impression. I send my kids to schools and I appreciate the effort of their teachers.

To be fair to him, prior to Monday's plunge, I recall reading some of his comments talking about FKLI and shorting the index, which in this case made some sense, provided he really made good profit from the short positions.

I am not interested to comment further on him, which in another way will help create more traffic and publicity for him.

Of all the reasons and explanation given by David Weidner, as usual sounds very valid, but reading them through again, seems very difficult to link up all the points to form a convincing logic to support his view. Some of them looks contradicting each other.

Further question, stepping in MAS' shoes: "write of 90% of the capital" means MAS will reflect as ~2.8B additional loss in their next P&L statement? But how would that "manufacture" another few billions of fund for operation and debt payment use, putting aside the right issue funds?

I am confused with the proposal of capital reduction from par value RM1 to RM0.10: how does this mathematically deliver another few billions of cash for whatever purpose (pay debt, operating expenses, hedging loss, buy aircrafts, employees bonus) solely from this exercise? (exclude the right issue).

Looking at its latest Quarterly BLS:
Total cash = 1.4B
Short term debt = 3B
Long term debt = 5B
Total shares = 3.3B (RM1 par value)

By doing this exercise, how does the extra billions of cash come from?
For a MAS IPO subscriber, what does it mean to him?

technically there is signal showing the down trend is ending soon and going for reversal

fundamentally good news is latest q report shows losses had been reduced (sounds like making losses is norm and making less loss is good job), and by 2014 will conpirm make money.

Just to bring up here for discussion and hoping to get advises from sifus!
