The market now is good for those who want to grow their money, definitely not good for those who want to make money trading.
From their contribution here there are many of the latter, but very few of the former.
Both are correct in their analysis.

Beyond these Noise, things look not so gloomy, I tend to follow the foreign experts analysis/decisions/actions. Vanguard Group, Black rock, Charles Schwab, JP Morgan, East spring Inv, Peoples Rep China, Investo Capital etc etc all are increasing their investment in Tenaga. My stock analytical knowledge is nothing compared to them. i m a small fry. So I ride on them like pest, and I go places with them most of the time.

You are spot on sifu tolle. It is as if you are reading my mind. I concluded some time back that Tenaga displays characteristics of a dividend trap, I wanted to get out but waiting for the right price to exit a portion of it.

My research shows that wherever politician hands are involved that counter turns a bit more speculative, even if, it is a blue chip. Management is unpredictable.

As you correctly pointed, my type of investing is so boring, less opportunity to scratch itching hands. but, i do not know much about other industries to dive into.

I exited REITS beginning 2021, cut loss, and rebalanced, which turned out to be profitable.

It is nice to follow stkoay and lean on MBB say,up to 70%, but i am not for such a heavy lean, unless i am networked with the inner-circle, No corp is too big to fail in my opinion. I prefer a spread even if is a bit less lucrative. but when times are good, stkoay will reap handsome returns.

Yes DCA is beneficial. 20% standby reserves is ideal, but i have not practiced it till now.

In my experience remisiers view does not seem to tally with my research. It is very difficult to predict the 'lower price' with this counter, bcos volume n trend is low/slow. true, true, this company like most others in the western world, very honest, caring and transparent. No hanky panky mgmt. I guess that is why no one pray pray with this stock, high div oso no activity. really rich mans counter. very boring. I heard their employees are very well taken care of. yes, any total of 100 shares makes 1 lot. You can buy a few shares (shortfall) in the ' odd lot - market ' to make up 100 shares. e.g if u hv 96 shares from DRP, you can buy 4 more in the odd lot market to make in 100.

For easy understanding just substitute the word ' Ex ' with 'No More dividend', So, Ex-Date = ' No more dividend ' date

@linges, very true, even with >7.00% divi, the monkey on top, is agitated seeing other short term billis , go up & down offering envious capital gains. To the unseasoned, the itch is too deep to ignore....

@risingstar21 - You are right. It depends on your cost, those who bought before Nov 2013, and still holding it, would have enjoyed good dividends, but capital appreciation as of today almost back to purchased price. From now on no one knows.

@choysun - you are right, It appreciated for few months and peaked at 16.20 on 2 April 2018, but long term investors usually disregard such fluctuations in the short term. My comments were confined to the 5 yrs long term investor returns only.

As i have mentioned, there is a 5 year price downward trend. possibly due to dilution.
Not the best management etc. High dividends and 'Monopoly' element is keeping investors hooked...my guess.

Those who are in it for the short term, may be the wise ones. I don't know. I may be wrong.

It is better to be cautious with this counter.
If one has bought on 4th August 2016 it was @ 14.40.
If you have kept it until today it is 9.63. A loss in capital of 4.76. (appx 33 %) loss.
Displays 5 years price downward trend.
Even if you add all the dividends earned, I guess there will be a loss of 10%.
Dividends are good, but, it could be a trap. Can one classify this as a long term stock?
Short term buy/sell ok, but it is speculation.
What do the sifus here think?

Good advice from a well grounded Investor. But the 'itch' will be around forever. That is what makes the world swing. Can we presume that 'Dead-wood' enjoys its decay? ha! ha!
