shpg22, if you are following the taliwork story for the last few years you will know that it should be receiving payments soon for debts due to them by splash to the tune of several hundred millions ringgits, so tell me how this will worsen its fcf.

once ecrl confirmed, then ijm will rally some more; remember that prior to GE14, the stock was trading around 2.80
2019-04-08 15:37 | Report Abuse
those days following GE14 and announcements of cancelling ECRL and LRT contracts had serious downward impact on IJM; now it seems these issues are being resolved and the infra works will go on and that's why IJM price has been rallying these past weeks.

no more growth story here; online business flat, cambodia business flat, vincci business in thailand just starting and will involve more capex, and what is worse, stingy with dividends. it has large cash reserves but no big expansion plans to use the money and at the same time, refuse to pay more dividends. At a projected 11.5 sen, the yield at the current share price is less than 4 %. Worse return than FD. Sell and put your money elsewhere. For a stock with no tangible and credible business expansion, the PE is way too high.

fortune favours the brave. surely out-of-court settlement because that is the usual practice in the US. legal fees way too expensive, everyone there knows that. whether it is fox or not, GENM can still operate the theme park, they have done that for many years already. Good time to accumulate and hold. after the dust has settled, this counter will bring good returns. if the issue with the indian Mashpee tribe ends positively, it will be further catalyst for Genm.

@kakasi123, forward pe at 25? what have you been smoking? the online and overseas expansion? its online sales is totally insignificant and overseas just started. These are growth avenues will take great effort and time b4 we can see any meaningful contribution to sales and more importantly profits. Right now, they are just burning money. Just check out its segment reporting, no mention at all of its online and overseas contribution, that itself indicates how irrelevant the 2 segments are. So we are still left with the domestic market which in my opinion is already saturated with their stores. Expect more difficulties in the near term. Given their large cash pile, they should raise the dividend payout so that the current share price can be more reasonably supported. A minimum of 20 sen annual dividend will at least make a 4.50 share price more palatable, and even then it is still less than the FD rate, but at least it shows the investors that the company is concerned about making its shares attractive.

@ omgimnoob, USD come into picture coz their imports, even those from China, are increasingly denominated in USD. The USD has been strengthening these last 2 months and that means the costs of their purchases would have become more expensive and unless the company raises their prices, their margins will not recover that easily. And if you bought its share today at rm4.80 and held it for a year and assuming the dividend paid remained at 11.5 sen annually, your dividend yield would only be at around 2.4%. So barring any paper profits from an increase in its share price, it will be better to put your money in FD.

FY18 eps of 27 sen and at a fair PER of 15, its price should reasonably be at rm4.05, and given the latest quarterly result, and the likelihood of USD pressures on costs and margins, there is cause for caution.

the proposed 1.2 sen dividend after the recent 3 for 5 bonus translate to the same 2 sen dividend declared before the bonus. this means the company is keen to maintain the dividend payout. only thing is whether a special dividend will be paid later at the end of the 4q.
2018-09-03 17:44 | Report Abuse
the bonus issue is attractive and the arrangement with splash for future work and repayment of debt also good for the stock. buy.

i think must wait for the qrtly announcement first to see how and when Tali can get back its receivables from Splash; and whether any special dividend coming or not then only Tali will move.

@kathyng, bravo for your comments, shows good understanding of the issue at hand; I think it might be possible that Tali may take a haircut; yes I understand that contractual obligations are paramount but Tali may take a haircut to expedite the process of getting its receivables back from Splash and to ensure full payment for future work rendered. And no I do not think the Selangor govt will go bankrupt over this deal.

what r u guys (wai yoong and newrookie) blabbering about? Tali is not going to get anything from the sale of splash coz Tali is not a shareholder of Splash. The thing about the sale of splash to the Selangor govt is that the debts due from Splash to Tali now won't become bad bcoz the Selangor govt will not default on the debts.
2018-08-05 15:29 | Report Abuse
please note that if the govt invokes section 114 of the Water Services Industry Act, then it can just assume control of Splash without the agreement of the shareholders. So if gamuda wants to play hardball and hold the consumers and the govt of Selangor to ransom, it must be careful not to piss the PH govt off. Previously under the BN govt, gamuda may be the blue eye boy and get lots of contracts, but now they have to deal with Tun M. Btw, @pang72, you cannot use the amount owed by syabas to splash to value splash since splash also owes lots of money to its suppliers like tnb and taliworks.
2018-08-05 15:16 | Report Abuse
if Gamuda rejects the offer then it is time for the PH govt to invoke section 114 of the Water Services Industry Act which allows the govt to assume control of Splash. Gamuda has been the stumbling block to the completion of the deal for too long now always asking for more money. As a result the consumers in Selangor suffers from water shortages from time to time as the upgrading of the water supply and its distribution gets held back. And all because of corporate greed.

Future dividend payout by Tali is bright and a re-rating is likely.
2018-08-04 17:17 | Report Abuse
Benefit to Tali is that new work done for Splash should now be paid in full, and Tali doesn't hv to make bad debts provision for its billings to Splash, and provisions made previously can now be written back as income. So in the immediate and medium term, Tali's profits will rise and cash flows will improve.

@WaiYoong, the rm2.55b selling price is paid to the owners of Splash, nothing to do with creditors; creditors like Tali must get the money back from Splash whose new owner now is the govt of Selangor. Since the Selangor govt is not likely to go bankrupt, tali is assured of getting the receivables back altho it will take some time.
2018-08-03 19:33 | Report Abuse
Tali should get back all debts owed by Splash unless Selangor govt declares itself bankrupt or tali gives a discount to Splash.
2018-08-03 17:04 | Report Abuse
@JJchan, the Selangor govt cannot default on the amounts owed by Splash because it would mean that the govt is going bankrupt, this means that the debts due to Taliworks will be paid to them in full eventually, unless taliworks takes a haircut.

in the past, SST is imposed on imports and is not reclaimable whereas the 6%GST was reclaimable, so this means that once the SST kicks in the costs of Padini's imports will be increased by the quantum of the SST.

Fund managers and foreign investors won't give a damn when a country burns and its rakyat eats dirt so long they make their profits and get a good return in their investments. Like rats, they will abandon ship once the ship starts sinking. And as for rating agencies, just look at the US example and the good ratings that they gave to sub-prime loans at that time. Did the rating agencies warn about those loans or downgraded the banks and investment houses issuing them? No!, they were totally clueless about that, or if they knew, they just kept quiet because they were on eating from the same feeding trough.

this is all because of that f*cking moron in the white house and the trade war he is starting. Anyway, lctitan is a solid company and this drop provides buying opportunities.

to all those who have no confidence in the company and its future prospects, sell all your shares and then wait for it to fall below rm2 b4 buying into the company again; if still no confidence wait for 3q results and maybe by then the price will be less than rm1.50. There is really no need to write rubbish. Just sell your VS shares if you still have them and buy other stocks like nestle or public bank, those sure solid companies.

buy the mother and wait for the 23 sen dividend that has been proposed.
2018-02-27 10:47 | Report Abuse
and given its large cash pile, its dividend is actually a pittance, especially if seen in the light of its rm5 price. the 11.5 sen annual dividend has not changed in years while its profits and revenues have grown quite substantially over that time. As it generates practically all its more than rm1 billion revenues in cash, the company does not require such a large cash pile and is clearly not using its resources efficiently. And if the company does not have any profitable use for all that cash, then at least distribute a major part of that as dividends to justify its high market price.
