Light emitting diode (LED)- based lighting systems producer ItraMAS Corp Sdn Bhd, through Malaysia External Trade Development Corp (Matrade) promotion programmes, has gained presence in over 17 countries.

ItraMAS, an active exporter of its lighting products, is said to have reaped rewards from trade matching session organised by Matrade, establishing an export market in Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, the US, Panama, Italy, Germany, France, Lebanon, South Africa as well as Asian countries like Japan, India, China, Thailand and Singapore.

CEO Lee Choo Boo said the company has gained in terms of establishing products branding and promotion, connecting with potential customers globally.

“In the long run, ItraMAS will be able to expand further and be known globally as a prominent Malaysian company that produces excellent made-in-Malaysia LED products,” said Lee.

ItraMAS participated in Matrade’s promotion booth during Lighting Japan — the 5th LED/OLED Lighting Technology Expo, a trade fair which focussed on LED/OLED lighting products and technologies ranging from materials, components, manufacturing equipment to lighting fixtures.

Like ItraMAS, other Malaysian LED companies that participated in the event included PCO Lite Electrical Sdn Bhd, Dominant Opto Technologies Sdn Bhd, Success Electronics & Transformer Manufacturer Sdn Bhd, Nitto Optotronics Sdn Bhd, Setsu Precision Technology (M) Sdn Bhd, P-Plus Lighting Sdn Bhd, Powermicro LED Technology Sdn Bhd, Penchem Technologies Sdn Bhd, and DEG Industrial Supplies Sdn Bhd.

Meanwhile, LED aviation warning lights manufacturer Avialite Sdn Bhd, which has gained a strong footing regionally, is now making inroads into emerging markets such as Nigeria and Sudan.

CEO Hee Hwee Leng said the company embarked on Matrade’s specialised marketing mission on aerospace to Jakarta last year and France this year.

Operating in a niche market, she said, the company believes innovation, customisation and value-add, are key to survive in today’s competitive market. Currently, Avialite is also exporting to Indonesia, Philippines, Vietnam, Brunei and Myanmar.

Another LED lights producer Proreka (M) Sdn Bhd has recorded robust export growth through aggressive marketing and promotion, recognising the role of Matrade in facilitating meetings with clients and arranging visits to international companies’ facilities during trade shows.

To date, Proreka has presence in most Asean countries, Middle East and Australia, and is now establishing inroads into Africa.

UPDATE: Apparently the Aussies have got it wrong – it is actually Proreka who are buying the superchargers for the Proton Satria Neo.

Something very interesting in the Australian news today – Automotive Technology Group (ATG) shared gained nearly 3% after it announced that it had received an AU$600,000 order for 500 units of superchargers to be supplied to Proreka.

Doing some simple maths would price each supercharger at about AU$1,200 or RM3,880 at current exchange rates, almost half the price of one would typically have to pay for a Rotrex C30, like yours truly’s. The first deliveries would begin in October this year and delivery targets are about 50 units a week. ATG goes on to say that these superchargers will be manufactured to suit the Proton Satria Neo.

It looks like the supercharged Proton Satria R3 may be going into production after all! This is indeed some very exciting news, and finally that solid Neo chassis will be receiving the powerful lump that it deserves! The prototype supercharged Neo R3 featured recently made 180 horses and 200Nm. The ATG Sprintex supercharger is if a helical twin screw design, and ATG calls it the world’s most advanced supercharger design. A twin screw positive displacement supercharger has very little lag.

ATG and local company Proreka have also signed an agreement to study the production of the Sprintex supercharger in Malaysia.
