The US has decided to impose tariffs on steel and aluminum on the EU, Canada and Mexico, thus ending the temporary exemptions.
A 25% tariff on steel imports and a 10% tariff on aluminium imports would be effective June 1.

FYI, Italy’s current debt burden is 130 percent of gross domestic product. Ours is about 80%. Both are high.

@gayinvestor True the damage is already done. Things may get worse before they get better. But the country will eventually recover. We recovered from Bank Bumi-Carrian affair in the 1980s and the Asian financial crises. Even the developed world has had crises such as US subprime, collapse of Barings, Greece, Italy, Spain, etc.

@ProRoy This country's woes are BN's doing. We need to give PH some time to resolve the many issues plaguing the country.

A lot of investors were trapped in 1.80-2.05 range in Feb. Palm oil prices are down. EU, India and China have reduced purchases. So know what you are getting into before it's too late.

For the broader market, I'd say time to be out. A lot of bad news for global economy. Here in Malaysia, election rallies could turn nasty after Parti Pribumi(Dr M's party) suspended by ROS yesterday. Could be bad for KLSE.

The idiom "throwing good money after bad" refers to spending more money on something problematic that one has already spent money on, in the (presumably futile) hopes of fixing it or recouping one's original investment.

Just to put things in perspective, crude oil was trading in the $25-35 range before it went ballistic with ALL other commodities. Oil hit a record highs of over $100 (well above normal) before CRASHING with ALL other commodities. With global growth slowing, demand for oil is likely to drop, IMHO. (I may be wrong.) Oil has dropped from $70 high last week to $67+.

Everyone's entitled to their own opinions. I could also say, "Don't count your chickens before they are hatched". A lot of things can change. When oil was 100+, people were talking of 140. We know what happened. Same goes for gold, palm oil, bitcoin, etc, etc. Oil traders keep track of no.of rigs producing, no. of barrels, demand, inventories, etc. Law of Supply and Demand. Your money, your call..

As JJChan above pointed out, beware TPs by Investment Houses/Banks. I believe these are often purposely set much higher for major players to sell. They need a large volume of buyers i.e.you and me.

Oil surging is a double-edged sword. It also means higher petrol prices and slower economic growth/recession.
