from reliable source, the company is trying to sell crest @ sultan ismail, a small development behind renaissance hotel. among reasons that they are very picky in bidding new jobs is bad paymaster and small margins. the property was part of the settlement to the company by the owner. and they are having hard time to sell the property.

on the short term, overall world market still very cautious heavily influenced by Argentina's default news. however, yesterday's US data on better-than-estimate Q2 growth, lower jobless percentage and stepped up pressure on Russia's buoyed strengthening of dollar which would be a good signal for stronger overall market sentiment in the rest of 2H 2014.

at current level, our market has been bullish run for almost year after it broke 1,700 points in Sep-13 and it has established strong support at 1,850. correction is inevitable in any market as whatever things go up, it will go down. our market movers are very much dependent on the blue chips but for the past few months we have witnessed the rise of mid and small term market cap. despite market drop, retailers and mid-size investors have been more than business-as-usual. many third-line counters have been traded higher than its intrinsic value.

my take would be trade cautiously as these third-line counters are very susceptible to speculations. do not go chasing the waterfall. even if you have holding power, it may prove costly if you are trapped. i personally believe that at least the bull run will continue until 1Q 2015. the next cycle is coming next year.

Exxon reported worldwide decline in production and jet fuel has been on steady increase for the past 2 weeks. expect higher price of fuel which may affect any aviation counters in the world. few points to consider - privatization of MAS does not mean that MAS would entirely cease long-haul operations and reinstatement of EU routes may not be the sale catalyst. even most of the research houses recommended hold. just my 2 cents.

National Aerospace and Defence Industries Sdn Bhd (NADI) and Lion Air's owner PT Lion Group will form Malindo Airways, which may rival AirAsia and subsequently spark a price war. The airline is poised to start operating in May 2013 and will use the soon-to-complete KLIA2 in Sepang’s KL International Airport as its hub. It will begin with a fleet of 12 Boeing 737-900ER planes, before expanding to 100 aircraft in 10 years. It also plans to use Kota Kinabalu International Airport (KKIA) as its secondary hub. Malindo Airways plans to offer flights within Malaysia and Indonesia, as well as to Thailand, China, India, Japan and Australia. NADI will own a 51% stake in the airline while the remaining 49% will be held by the PT Lion Group. (BT)

NADI’s background. According to company filings, NADI is 78% owned by PJS Industries SB, while DZJJ SB holds a 10% stake. Interestingly, the Ministry of Finance owns a 6% stake, which also includes a golden share. NADI's principal business activities are mostly related to the maintenance and provision of services for the Royal Malaysian Air Force's fleet. Control and managed by PJS Industries SB, its management also comprises of former air force generals.

Leveraging on Lion Air’s expertise, Malindo will leverage on the ticketing distribution and online platform of the Lion Air Group, while delivery of its aircraft will be sourced from the latter's pipeline orders which total 341 Boeings to date.

No immediate threat. With only 12 operational aircraft in the start-up phase next yeat, we don't see this as an immediate threat to AirAsia and MAS. However, as Malindo's scale of operations grows, this could further intensify competition and put downward pressure on yields across the board as the airline intends to price fares as low as AirAsia. Malindo also has an added advantage in its cost structure, as its new generation Boeing B737-900s have a comparably higher seat capacity of 220 seats over AirAsia’s 180 seats. To add on, maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) services will be done by NADI subsidiary Airod. The key beneficiary to the JV setup is MAHB, as KLIA2 and KKIA will be its operating hubs in Malaysia. Nonetheless, competition is good for consumers, thus further stimulating the demand for low-cost travel.

Maintain OVERWEIGHT. With AirAsia’s share price receiving a bashing from funds of late, this would be a good time for investors to accumulate the stock. Furthermore, its Group CEO Tan Sri Tony Fernandes recently claimed on social media networks that its operations in Japan registered profit in the first month of operations and its Indonesian operations saw record profit in Aug. For MAS, any downside to the share price will be limited. We remain optimistic on the aviation sector’s outlook in the immediate term as demand for travel will continue to be resilient, coupled with a seasonally stronger 2H
