Market is up double digit but my portfolio is running backwards

I'd guess a dividend of 30 sen. Any other guesses?

Don't be disappointed if the next quarterly results is not up to expectations. Sometimes management for sinister reasons may purposely talk down the earnings and prospects.

I've experienced that in Dutchlady - after selling my stake due to the "gloomy" outlook, the share price just skyrocketed!!

Analysing the implication of oil prices down.

Negative - the stock of crude that Petron had purchased from upstream companies have to be revalued downwards.

Positive - The price of petrol has gone up. The price of gas sold to homes & businesses, no change. This implies that the crack spread has widen.

Overall the positive > negative - am I right?

富二代 - could be right that they are purposely depressing the mother share by shorting (since they can do it with the shares pledged in margin finance) hence driving down the price of CW but that would be scandalous.

Rightfully these IBs do not bet against the holders of CW since they delta-hedge their positions and merely take a short position on volatility so that both parties can win.

If it's IBs, then it's likely that those who play on margin borrowing & contra traders could not meet their financial commitments. Such selling often leads to the price dipping below the fundamental value.

A lackluster performance but hang in there folks. To quote Herbert Hoover - "prosperity is around the corner". Unfortunately when he said it, it never happened.

US markets had of late seen meteoric rise & intuitively I'd say overshot so they have a lot of downside risk. Of course the interest rate hike would have some bearing but our stocks thanks to our "skilled & honest" politicians have been languishing so go figure.

The market may show a relatively low price which is dictated by demand & supply. However the earnings would probably justify a higher price.

Despite management's valiant efforts, the performance is weak. Bonus issue is no big deal.

I think the underlying motive is partly money. One research said that they should ban butter because the cows that produce the milk which is churned into butter, collectively has a fart that causes massive increases in greenhouse gases.

Would they take such a drastic step to stop consumption and put a lot of farmers into the poor house? No way!!!

There's a saying that "markets can stay wrong longer than you can remain liquid" so hang in

PetDag is up whilst Petron is down is odd.

I surmise that Petron's highly erratic price movements is linked to the pile of structured warrants issued by the investment banks. It raises the age-old question - does the cash market lead the warrants or vice versa.

With so much more "bang-for-the-money" in structured warrants, I can imagine big players swinging the mother shares to profit from the warrants.

14b expansion is indeed a risk of which 2 types come into mind - i.e. operational risk in the possibility that the project may be mired with problems and constrained liquidity and free cash flow.

PetronM is not for the faint-heart. Past price movements have indicated that it's extremely volatile. So it's rough seas for now. If you make it through then there's a possible pot of gold waiting for you.

The aggregate of latest 3 quarters 2017 earnings completely eclipsed the full 2016 earnings.

Do note that share price is merely a function of supply and demand.

The real test of its worth is in its earnings.

金正恩 Petron's PE is 16, so high ?? .... That's because it's based on 2016 EPS and not the latest quarterlies

ironically, Pet Dag is surging ahead despite PE of 26 whilst Petron's PE is 16

I'm apprehensive of Hengyuan given that it's a China-based co & the chinese have a track record of dubious accounting practices

Although Hengyuan seem to be surging way ahead of Petron, my preference is for Petron. Why?

Firstly, it's has a wider diversity of products.

Secondly, I don't trust China-based companies. They're famous for dubious accounting practices.

Petronm RM65 if HRC is valued between PE 10 to PE15, then Petronm should be valued at PE 25 to 30. At EPS of 18 X PE 35 = RM63

Agreed due to the diversity of Petron's products but maybe your PE opinion on Petron is too lofty

Maybe ASB needs the money. If that's the case then it's a good buy as down trend of price is not due to concerns about performance. The next quarterly should shed more light into this matter.
