It's like a quicksand - once in, hard to get out and you keep sinking more & more money thinking that the share price is undervalued but hehe it remains undervalued

One of the biggest mysteries in life is what does it take to drive Petron share price up - increase in crude, good profits, great brand, topline growth, a burgeoning balance sheet chocking on its own excessive reserve retention, supposedly great management with seemingly great plans? Nothing seems to work

TQ Mark Goh - I see BK on the top right hand corner of the graph - indicating somewhat overvalued in comparison with others lower down the line?

OMG!! This is unheard of.
March futures CPO trading at 8,754. I hope KLK will be able to harvest & process most of the fresh fruit bunches. Big fat margins await.

I've studied Petron's share price movements. Here's a summary ...
When oil price leaps, the share price moves up a little.
When oil price drops, the share price plunges. Haha

Not much explanation given on the massive inventory & property, plant & equipment write down.
I personally have written-off this counter. I made >25k the first round. My 2nd strike doesn't look good in the near term. So I'll leave it aside & just collect whatever microscopic dividends they declare.

Don't hold your breath Invest_888.
Crude price has jumped over the last 2 weeks, yet share price has not moved much

So the much anticipated rally given the meteoric rise in crude, fatter crack spreads & good results simply fizzled out.
No more excitement here except for the puny dividends. This chat will also fizzle out until the next quarterly approaches

That's why I belief that if the share price is not performing then pay good dividends. That'll definitely draw the attention of investors.
A highly profitable company that pays a tiny dividend = a dog that barks fiercely & loudly but doesn't bite.
2022-02-24 21:46 | Report Abuse
Fairly ok results.
As always, made a ton of profit but only pay a tiny dividends. Annual profit = 240m but only pay 54m. This small dividend pay out had been a sort of a tradition with the management for years. If the share price is trading at say 12X PE then I can accept it but it trades at very low PE.
Poor long suffering shareholders.

pang72 How to greed as compare to rm15 in the past?
Ah yes - I've the distinction of selling 1 lot at 15 and another at 14.40 but got greedy & bought many above 10. Now I reflect my past, I realise that it reached 15 probably because the investment bankers "goreng" to launch the warrants successfully.

Pathetic but I've written off this counter.
Whatever dividends it gives, I'm grateful but not expecting anything more than a few sens a year. I understand though that we're operating under the threat of religious zealots or else, they would've operated with a lot of poise.

The highest price paid in the share buyback = 25.30 but that is cum-div.
To make it comparable today, the ex-price = 24.40.
This could be a benchmark price to buy ex.

The silver lining is that if it drops quite a bit then either I will use my dividend money to buy more shares or BK itself may do a buyback.

WilburR2 Share split is already in place in bursa as you can sell 100 shares right? Any advantage in share split?
A 1:1 share split simply cuts each share into 2. A similar bonus issue doubles the no of shares by debiting the reserves and crediting the share capital - in layman's terms taking the money from reserves & placing it into share capital.
Both however will have same impact on EPS hence share price.
2022-02-18 09:16 | Report Abuse
Actually I prefer a simple share split as bonus would mean draining our reserves.

Performance is superb due to mainly high CPO & PK prices and consolidation of CCM & IJM results. Cash generated from operations, up from 439m to 949m. Need to find out though the details of the massive 851m paid labelled "Purchase of shares from non-controlling interest".
Going by it's last 2 quarters EPS of 77.78 & 83.85 - if we extrapolate to annual = 323.26 sens. At a conservative PE of 9 times, then BK share price should amount to RM29.
Money, money, money!!!

Petron can't directly control investors' decisions but it can control dividends.
To make up for the very poor share price performance, massive dividend payouts will rile up investors who have ignored this counter. It'll be the right tonic to drive up the share price.

Ok show's over. The fireworks are through. Now back to work! Haha
2022-02-06 14:44 | Report Abuse
Price should rise significantly. Why?
- NTA > RM7 and PE is only 5.5.
- Though some may argue not in the same industry but I consider an investment is just an investment - Carlsberg is trading at PE of 36.6 & Nestle at a mindboggling 53!!
- Petron had made over the years hundreds of millions of RM but declaring only puny dividends. What happens when you put millions into a bank account but withdraw only pennies? Logically overtime, it should grow in a compounding fashion.
The share price is way behind the curve. It's puzzling what's holding this counter back?
The only way for management to get even with investors who're not paying any attention to this counter is to pay a lot more dividends (Unless of course if the accounts are all made up and the profits are fake).

TQ wsb_investor - 0.9% more stirs my interest.
I sold some of my in-the-money ordinary & withdrew some of my pathetic-yielding FDs & piled them on ICPs. I can smell the dividends & only hope for an upward drift thereafter.

wsb_investor - Dividend rate is 20% more.
My somewhat simpleton mind tells me that holding ICP in the long run, I'll have more cash in my bank than holding ordinary equivalent. In return I just have to make a small sacrifice on trading liquidity.
Is this logical?

Tq observatory. So it's the trading volume is the setback.
I made my maiden purchase of ICPs today & I'm exploring an arbitrage of sorts between ordinary & ICP

Going through the prospectus for ICP, it appears to me that the ICP should be trading at a higher price relative to the ordinary shares.
Any reason for the anomaly?

No liquidity but pays good dividends. I like the regular share buybacks. Recently did 2 major takeovers at excessively generous (high) prices - maybe because flushed with cash or perhaps for some other reasons that cannot be mentioned here.
I worry about China muscling in. Could this meteoric rise be akin to a supernova which explodes and then collapse? The jury is still out at this juncture.
