KUALA LUMPUR (Nov 8): Malayan Banking Bhd (Maybank) has expanded its cross-border QR Pay service to China, one of the first in the market for a Malaysian bank, amplifying the financial group’s capabilities and enhancing the ease and efficiency of financial transactions.

In a statement on Wednesday, Maybank said the initiative will benefit over eight million Maybank MAE mobile app users visiting China, as well as more than 700,000 Maybank QRPay merchants in Malaysia via transactions made by visitors from China.

Group chief executive officer of community financial services Datuk John Chong said Maybank’s cross-border initiative demonstrates its commitment to provide convenience to customers and aligns with the group’s strategic thrusts to strengthen its regional presence.

Ahmad Maslan added that it is anticipated that total domestic investment will increase to RM700 billion by the end of 2023.

At current price, historical is 6.55% for MBB, 4.32% for PBB.

Dividend of MBB from this trade is 1.45, capital gain at today is 99 sen....total 2.44.....versus cost of 8.00.....total return is 30.5%.
GentingB today 4.03....a drop of 88 sen.

@jeffchan1901 .....I bought GentingB during pandemic at average about 3.50 and sold at 4.91 on 19-7-21.....switched to MBB at about 8.00.....
....so glad I did that...both trades also win win :)

@1invest1, P/B 1.2 ......is lower than PBB but much higher than most other banks which trades below 1 times.
Even though MBB is a high yield low risk stock but not everyone will want to invest in a low beta stocks....different ppl has different investment mentality...that's why some profit n some loose money :)
...about that "non investor" .....I don't want to comment on him or have anything to do with him....I don't want to bring myself to his level.....that's why I don't visit Genting forum anymore.

At 8.76, my total gain is 26.3% (Total cash dividend plus unrealized capital gain)

....but I don't quite agree how analyst consider the price to be all time high by factoring in the dividend amount....if calculate this way, then can say current price is 20 or 30 with all the so many years' dividend added on.
...to me, at 8.76.....YTD only upped 6 sen :)

So, for long term dividend investors, MBB moves within current range will be cheap cheap to DRP or top up with fresh fund.

In another 4, 5 months.....current price will looks very cheap after factoring coming dividend of probably 31 to 33 sen.

volume less than half of PBB and one quarter of CIMB.....tiger is always less panic when market is volatile :)

During 2Q closing, dropped 10 sen and rebounded 12 sen the next day :p

Volume traded lowest among the top 3....even lower than RHB

He said banks’ net-interest margins are expected to improve in the last quarter of the year on easing credit cost and lower effective taxes.

@linges.....EPF sold on 13, 14 & 15....they also sold PBB during those 3 days and sold CIMB on 14 & 15.....so it's difficult to read the moves by this institution....
.....I think they "move" to "create" price to collect or distribute for long term...
.....cannot follow them, as a value investor, just follow value....just my 2 sen.

but I have short term fund available few days earlier than 27th.....so I DRP first if price is attractive :p

Previously, even with DRP, EPF & ASB sold before ex date...and sometimes buy back at lower price after ex date, even though they get less DRP by doing so, don't know why they did that, but EPF has been buying before ex lately.
During the previous in March, ASB did some DRP after dividend came in.

6.7% yield is attractive to ASM, ASB & EPF.

If it stays at current level, I guess major shareholders will do DIY DRP when dividend comes in.
MBB is pumping in 3.5b of liquidity to the market.

From my observation, more and more new investors are getting to know MBB as a long term dividend play.....and with these new investors coming in to "lock" for long term....shares float will get less and less in the future (ie. provided not much DRP in future)....which will be good for share price performance.

.....also, this forum is now more lau juak than PBB forum...haha :p

The previous ex price was 8.70 on March 13th.
After that the market was hit by the Sillicon Valley Bank news...but the price closed at 8.73 on April 11th......meaning the price made full recovery in one month......with all the bad news and weak sentiment.

@linges, yes, if you hold PBB instead of MBB for dividend play...at this time of the year (2 times yearly) you will feel so "sad" for getting so much less....
......some investors say they hold PBB for capital gain...but looking at the price performance, it has under performed so much for the past year compared to MBB.
....even at current price (after dropping so much) it's P/B price to book value is still so high compared to MBB.
