One way Lim hopes to turnaround Empire’s fortunes is by bringing more electronic gaming nearer to the city. Genting’s electronic slots at Aqueduct Racetrack in Queens have been wildly successful in recent years.

Gross gaming revenues for table games have been even healthier in recent months, averaging a robust $1,932.02 per table per day in July for 151 tables.

MYEG COMMITTED TO COMPLYING WITH MYCC TO ENSURE NO ABUSE OF
DOMINANT POSITION

Petaling Jaya, 24 January 2019 – MY E.G. Services Berhad ("MYEG" or “the Group”) has been in
continuous engagement with Malaysia Competition Commission (“MyCC”) to ensure the Group is not construed to be abusing its dominant position, perceived or otherwise, in the provision of services related to the online foreign worker permit and insurance renewals.

The Group had on 5 December 2018 received written notice from MyCC on steps to be taken by the Group to tweak the user flow on its website. Accordingly, on 7 December 2018, the Group responded in writing, stating its agreement to make the required changes as per MyCC’s recommendations. Nevertheless, in consideration of there having been no earlier notice given on the additional requirements prior to the aforementioned letter and in view that the Group has been continuously in engagement with MyCC, the Group had requested for a reduction of the daily penalty.

Furthermore, subsequent to the original decision by MyCC, the Group had already made changes to its systems to comply with MyCC’s requirements then and officially notified MyCC of its compliance on 18 November 2015 and again on 17 January 2018.

As such, the Group is now seeking to appeal the magnitude of the penalty imposed on these grounds.

MYEG wishes to inform all users that the changes required are in relation to the user interface of the Group’s portal and does not affect the ongoing delivery and provision of all its services.
