Should be able to reach RM 5,000 per tonne in 2020. The highest ever was RM3,930 reached in Feb 2011. Since then things have changed positively for CPO.

Environmental improvements in planting have made it less sensitive to use CPO. CPO is not increasingly used in bio-fuel with CPO as higher percentage in its component with Indonesia leading the way.

The factors are in alignment: Low production season due to rain, low CPO inventory, increase use in biofuel/diesel, China buying, India returning to buy, rising soya bean oil prices for which CPO is a strong substitute.

Now if there is an El Nino or El Nina come mid-year to end of year 2020. That will reduce soya bean production and send soya bean oil prices soaring and CPO will follow.

Anyone knows the current CPO price i.e. today 27/12/2019?

Settled price for CPO on 26/12/2019 was RM3005 per tonne.

China buying US soya bean. So soya bean oil likely to go up and with it CPO price. Also El Nino is expected mid 2020 which will devastate soya bean crop. So likely good CPO price in 2020.

BTW, CPO Futures are indicative of price direction but beyond 3 months, they are of little use. It's the CPO delivered price that counts.

CPO price is expected to breach RM3000 per tonne in early 2020 and reach all time high. Several factors:

1) China is buying;
2) India returning to the market;
3) Increase use of CPO for bio-fuel by Indonesia (and also EU?).

Yeah, the price of palm oil had shot up on 20/12/2019 to record high this year - RM2912 per tonne.

Of the 48K ha, 24K ha are prime mature palms, 12K ha are old mature palms and 12K ha are young immature palms.

SOP is about 90% planted and majority prime mature palms.

So RSawit is about 30% the vallue of SOP.

So if RSawit price is about 30% of SOP price i.e. about RM1.1, it would be good.

RSawit at present is very undervalued by the market.

@cat lim. It's a matter of timing. I should have said that if it closed above above 70 sens. I made the comment when the price was racing towards and reached 70 sens.

Besides I used the word "unlikely".

The trend is now up.

FPGroup proce had broken through the all time high resistance. Unlikely you will see price below 70 sens for a long time.
