Mark, you are right about Op leases as debt, which is in line with latest IFRS, but you have forgotten one thing: when Op lease is booked as debt (guaranteed payment to lessor), the lessee obtain a "right to use", which is an asset currently not included in asset calculation. (This is recommendation under IFRS). So if you want to put it in as a debt, you must provide them an equivalent asset too.
As you only take away their equity but didn't provide them with the entitled equity, and your RM1.54 is based on equity, The valuation is not correct and undervalued now.
Also, just to share an information which maybe only frequent AA watchers would noticed, while AA sign a non-cancellable lease agreement with lessor, they subletting the aircraft to their overseas associates and collect lease expense + overhead + some profit on it (that's why there is a big item in revenue called operating leases income), in actual fact the non-cancellable debt is moved to third parties (associates). So it's not as bad as you see.

But you are right, TAA is improving from low of 4Q16. I always believe diversification of markets is crucial, as over relying on Chinese market could be deadly. This time, TAA show they are hurt by them but the local and VLMC market has come for rescue. It literally offset all potential losses due to Thai authorities break up of zero fare tour.

Cruger, simply bcos they are looking ttm, so go them is bad result replace good result. When you are not for long term, trailing twelves months is big enough for them.
Anyway, I am willing to bet for good PAA and MAA results. MAA will partially hurt by higher PSC, but should be insignificant. Another key is, will AA India widen their loss or actually make lesser loss?
These will determine the 1Q result.

cruger, in THB term the fuel price at 1Q16 & 1Q17 is almost the same (2081 vs ~2100), so the fuel price alone is not the reason of this result. Almost all item in line with the capacity growth, except 2, revenue & fuel excise.
The revenue was growing minimum, we all know it's mainly due to lesser Chinese passenger. (see statement 1 below extracted from PR).
The fuel excise, should be the killer, my model suggest this alone added 500~600 million baht to TAA's cost.

(24% of chartered flight is 125 million baht.)

Unlikely ECRL will be cancelled, as it's funded by PRC government owned bank. (If this could be cancel, it actually good for our economy in long term as some believe that the actual cost for it is 30bil, not 55bil. It's a big saving)
