For us who dont care about unrealise loss, the realised gain from aircrafts transfer would mean limited gain or break even in forex term. However, as AAB going to list in HKSE or NYSE, the more equity (or BVPS) AAB@KLSE is, the lower is the disproportional in equity between KLSE & NYSE/HKSE

A lot of investor would look at PAT & balance sheet, so it's good to them and good for share movement too. However, we make find some fan cheong analysts who previously said AA suffer from big forex loss so very risky but now they will say those realise forex gain are not core income so have to ignore it, haha. (Tips : #1 could be D. Bank)

USD always the same, the difference is in RM.
For AAC, the leasing margin would remain same, as always USD.
Not sure if they will show it as FOREX gain or other revenue.

Agree with feisch, he pointed out a very important thing: hedging has no meaning to AAC as they are USD denominated.
Transferring of hedged aircrafts to AAC has no benefit to AAC and the only gain to MAA are value difference in SLB. MAA would have to pay higher lease rate at higher exchange rate of 4.48 now, instead of paying their borrowing now at 3.23.

Batu
1. What I mean is MAA will outright sell all future aircraft (those without hedge) to AAC in future. Which mean the remaining aircraft they would take delivery are either hedged at 3.2 or would be delivered to associates (natural hedge).
2. feisch has replied and corrected what i am wrong: purchase & hedging are 2 transaction. But I do still believe that even if it's 2 transactions, that would still be 1 hedge contract/option tie to 1 aircraft, and MAA only transfer/sell those without hedging to AAC.
[Those hedged would ensure MAA wouldn't suffer from forex loss, while those unhedged are now transferred to AAC to remove MAA's forex loss.]
3. those 38 aircrafts from MAA (HLIB & CIMB: 38, MIDF said 28) just a normal sell & lease back and probably are hedged aircrafts, so when they SLB, probably they would earn value difference & forex gain (as they paid in RM3.28 and now received RM4.48).

Cruger, i read your comments to supermx2 about AAC, and suddenly have some crazy thought about what AirAsia might be planning with AAC! AAC is probably not just about sale & lease back, it may have much bigger meaning to AirAsia.
Let me write out my thought tonight

And that's why TF said there would be a lot more AAC. AAC is just a huge SLB
2017-03-09 13:16 | Report Abuse
Feisch, couldn't agree more. I think that's why at first they prefer to fully sell the AAC.
Looking into Lion Air & IndiGo, more than 50% of their aircrafts are operating lease (they sell their aircrafts after 3~6 years old. AirAsia is very odd as they own most of their aircrafts.

Here is confirmed the end of 87th Battle of BWC
2017-03-06 23:38 | Report Abuse
guys, TF told us the following:
1. MAA's to add 8 aircrafts to current 77 aircrafts, that's 10.4% growth.
2. He also say utilisatio hour to increase from 12 to 14 hours, that's 16.7% growth.
3. He further told us this year ASK would grow by just under 10%.
But item 1 & 2 already mean 28.9% grow, that don't gel with item 3.
Something not right with his figure, haha.
Unless those 28.9% are using for significant much shorter route, else don't make sense.

btw, i am glad AirAsia choose the A320neo with CFM engine. The another version has more than 42 cases of engine need to be removed due to technical issue and one of it fired mid-air.
Investing in airline stock always come with risk, very rare but very significant risk.

One thing i like about AirAsia, they really willing to invest to have long term saving and improved efficiency. I went to Changi Airport just now and walked around all 3 terminals. Only Jetstar & AirAsia implement full automation including self-service baggage drop. In that way, instead of having 10 ground staffs helping customer to check-in their baggage, they only need 1, yes 1 staff to assist customer.
Imagine each ground staff's monthly pay is SGD2000 (i doubt it's so cheap), annual salary for 2 shift of 9 staffs are about SGD 468k. If consider those machine could last for 10 years before major retrofit, that's SGD 5 million.
Acoording to WebInTravel.com ,One self-check-in kiosk cost USD 10k, so 20 pieces of them are USD 200k. For self bag-drop I couldn't find any price-tag on it, but it could be quite low at range of about USD 100k~150k (mainly an intergrated computer with small gate, weight scale, belt conveyor and printer, how much would it cost?), 10 pieces would be USD 1 million. Total up equivalent to about USD 1.2 mil to USD 1.7 mil. In SGD term it's SGD 1.7 mil to SGD 2.4 mil.
That's a saving of 50 percent, minus away maintenance cost probably still have 40% saving.
Other than that, the queuing time would be reduced by half according to AirAsia. That's an improvement to customer's experience.

Such a good news.
It's again proven true that AirAsia has a great bargaining power when it come to aircraft delivery.
2017-03-04 13:55 | Report Abuse
"AirAsia has accelerated its planned deliveries of Airbus A320neos this year, as the low-cost carrier (LCC) group targets a resumption of fleet growth.
The Malaysia-based LCC reached an agreement in February to boost 2017 neo deliveries, by advancing some that were due in subsequent years, an AirAsia spokesman said. AirAsia has also canceled the remaining A320ceos it ordered directly from Airbus.
The AirAsia Group had previously expected to receive 11 A320neos and six A320ceos in 2017, along with 15 leased A320ceos.
However, the latest changes mean the group is set to take delivery of 17 of the neos this year, with 12 allocated to the core Malaysian operation and five aircraft to Thai AirAsia. The group will also receive 13 leased A320ceos, and they will be sent to AirAsia’s non-Malaysian affiliates.
These 30 deliveries will be offset by the return of three leased A320s operated by Philippines AirAsia. The net gain will be 27 aircraft, boosting the AirAsia Group fleet to 201 aircraft by year’s end."

BWC, whether are we call buy without reason, don't worry you could check our chat record, we don't delete what we say.
Supermax2, if you really think past movement alone is solid reason for you, you could try to be a Swing Trader, it may suit you. Just remember to ask yourself how do you know what price is peak what price is bottom. You got to find a way suit your, or you can't sleep at night.
