Even cost become cheaper due to depreciation of RM also can't help to retain those MNCs, something to think deep.

i just hope those retrenched staff find a job soon. Not easy to find work outside nowsday. I have friends that has been laid off since January and still not securing job.

Very sad for the worker, however through retrenchment only will they cut their bottomline cost.. which in turns lead to leaner operations and lower cost and higher profit.

Best case - Maybe the company became more technologically efficient in production.

Worst case - The world economy may have reached the point of maturity where demands stalling and declining. So cut cost to maintain profit compromising product quality.

workers in electronics industry rarely have union backing them...manpower lay off is also a common scene in this industry.
