KUALA LUMPUR (Nov 16): Bursa Malaysia Securities Bhd has publicly reprimanded, fined and suspended two dealer representatives for engaging in prohibited short selling activities in the accounts of three clients.

The two, Mooi Weng Hou and Kwan Chun Han, were commissioned dealer representatives of RHB Investment Bank Bhd at its Pandan Indah branch office at the time of the offence, Bursa Securities said in a statement.

Mooi was fined RM94,500 and suspended for six months from being a registered person of Bursa Securities, while Kwan was fined RM25,000 and suspended for three months from being a registered person.

In addition, both of them were required to undergo training on the conduct or professionalism of dealer’s representatives and market offences.

Bursa said during the relevant period of one month, Mooi had executed and instructed Kwan to execute numerous instances of intraday short selling (IDSS) trades involving substantial volume in nine counters that were among stocks approved for short selling.

These nine counters are Anzo Holdings Bhd, AT Systematization Bhd, Bioalpha Holdings Bhd, Careplus Group Bhd, Comfort Gloves Bhd, Waja Konsortium Bhd (formerly known as Connect County Holdings Bhd), PDZ Holdings Bhd, Vsolar Group Bhd and CW Hang Seng Index.

Mooi also executed and instructed Kwan to execute numerous instances of IDSS trades involving substantial volume in Supermax Corp Bhd and Top Glove Corp Bhd at a time when IDSS was suspended by the stock exchange.

Bursa Securities said Mooi also instructed Kwan to conduct numerous prohibited short sales involving substantial volume in Comfort Gloves and PDZ, as well as numerous unpermitted IDSS trades involving substantial volume in Supermax.

“Bursa Malaysia Securities views seriously misconduct that impinge on the professional conduct of registered persons and compromise clients’ protection as such misconduct may adversely affect and damage market integrity and public confidence,” it said.

KUALA LUMPUR (April 15): Khee San Bhd has appointed Khairul Azwan Harun, chairman of VSolar Group Bhd and mTouche Technology Bhd, to helm its board of directors, effective Friday (April 15).

In a bourse filing, the candy and wafer confectionery manufacturer said Khairul, 46, a former senator as well as former deputy chief of UMNO Youth, is also currently the chairman of Malaysia Debt Ventures Bhd, a Minister of Finance Inc subsidiary that provides flexible financing facilities to help develop the information and communications technology sector.

"In 2020, he established Progredior Consulting, a Kuala Lumpur-based management consulting outfit, where he currently serves as a managing partner, providing consultation to his corporate clients in policy research, strategic communications, stakeholder advocacy and project funding," the group said.

Separately, Khee San announced the appointment of Datuk Mohamad Razali Mohamad Rahim — group chief executive officer of Talam Transform Bhd — as its non-independent, non-executive director. Notably, Razali, 62, holds 22.88 million shares representing a 16.67% stake in Khee San.

His appointment also took effect on the same day.

Khee San shares closed 1.5 sen or 12.5% higher at 13.5 sen, giving the candy maker a market capitalisation of RM18.53 million.

Our wholly-owned subsidiary, Cubetech Asia Sdn. Bhd. (CubeTech) had in September 2021 acquired 15,726,300 ordinary
shares of Symphony Life Berhad (Symphony), representing 2.33% of the issued and paid-up capital of Symphony, at an
average price of RM0.58 per share for a total cash consideration of RM9,251,411 from the market. At the same time,
Cubetech had also acquired 32,500,000 ordinary shares of Meridian Berhad (Meridian), representing 4.31% of the issued
and paid-up capital of Meridian, at an average price of RM0.18 per share for a total cash consideration of RM5,916,390
from the market.
Symphony was listed on the Main Market of the Bursa Malaysia Securities Berhad (Bursa Securities). Symphony has passed
the 50-year mark since its incorporation in 1964 – truly a historic milestone for any company in Malaysia. Symphony has
weathered several economic downturns, survived remarkably and delivered more than 20,000 properties throughout the

RATIONALE FOR THE PROPOSED SHARE CONSOLIDATION
The Proposed Share Consolidation is part of the Company’s proactive capital management
plan to improve the Company’s capital structure.
As the Company has a large number of Shares in issue and a relatively low trading price range,
the Board noted that a small movement in the Share price may result in high percentage
movement in the Share price. The Proposed Share Consolidation would lead to a reduction in
the number of Shares available in the market and may reduce the magnitude of fluctuation of
the Company’s market capitalisation.
Following the completion of the Proposed Share Consolidation, the theoretical market price of
each Share will increase by 10 times and the total number of Shares in issue will be reduced
by the corresponding ratio. Notwithstanding this, Shareholders should note that the Proposed
Share Consolidation is not expected to alter the total value of the Consolidated Shares held by
them.
