Our exports to India, as are also to China, EU, Pakistan & other major buyers are mainly in the form of CRUDE palm oil (CPO), not refined palm oil.

Simply becos these guys already have the expertise & physical capability (i.e. plant, equipment etc.) to perform the REFINING process themselves.

So, it's cheaper for them to buy CRUDE palm oil (CPO), instead of refined palm oil. They can then do the REFINING themselves in their own place.

And we're now getting to read nonsensical terms like 'refined CPO', which is really a stupid oxymoron, even in reputaboe publications like the Edge. I mean, what is their editor doing, man.

Palm oil exported is either: (1) refined palm oil, commonly designated as 'refined, bleached & deodorised' (RBD) palm oil; or (2) crude palm oil (CPO).

You do not say something like 'refined CPO', because it is idiotic & confusing.

These are RESTRICTIONS only. They are NOT a complete, blanket ban, which would be against WTO rules.

Restrictions require a special permit to be implemented, which is normally issued to state trading houses etc.

These restrictions are for REFINED palm oil only, but not for crude palm oil (CPO).

For 2020, CPO still expected to trade in RM3,000 - RM3,300 range due to limited supply & increased demand from B20 biodiesel implementation.
