No problem....we want to stress that french cakap tak serupa bikin...and they cannot denied that palm oil is still the most economical for biodiesel....the must accepted
Well, let's not waste our time discussing the boullsshhit anti-palm oil politics of the EU.
The salient point is that, Total SA, a France-based top 5 global O&G supermajor has actually spent €200 mil adapting a former loss making crude oil refinery into new use as a biodiesel plant, with plans to use 300,000 tonnes of CPO per year out of 630,000 tonnes per year total feedstock. It is also stark evidence that not every individual or party in EU is happy with the EU-wide decision to phase out palm oil.
Now, 300,000 tonnes per year is more than 1% of Malaysia's combined total CPO production (about 26 mil tonnes per year). No chicken feed indeed.
So, what our palm oil authorities should be doing is, in my view, to follow up on opportunities like this fast. Like making serious efforts to persuade a potential large customer like Total SA to give serious consideration to Malaysia as a potential supplier for their CPO needs.
One advantage we have with France is our thus far cordial political & business relationship with them. I believe this has a more than fair chance of sustaining, even if the latest EU position on palm oil is kind of a bit awkward for our side.
While our Petronas as I understand it has a few ongoing JV O&G projects with Total SA abroad.
If they can forget that EU deforestation bullshhit talk for a while, and focus more on facts regarding palm oil, and buy more palm oil from us, then Malaysia could consider sourcing our next generation fighter jets from them. Raphael is not a bad aircraft, BTW.
Syariah certification should be no sweat all for TDM. Should be piece of cake for them. Becos they are not involved in any shady business with any hanky panky, only plantations & health care. And they're majority owned by Terengganu SEDC, with the state now under PAS rule.
