We need to see price around 5 before we can say it is on uptrend. Last year it was 5.37 when prospects were not clear. Right now it price is stuck badly whilst other sectors are moving forward. Political risk has gone. Just does not make sense!

Yes, China has lifted zero Covid policy but yet to allow the people to renew their passports to travel. No passport, no traveling. Will the people of China bringing in the possibility of mutated Covid virus to foreign countries…? Hmm… As one of the Genting Berhad shareholders, I m happy to see Genting back on track again… Cheers! Happy New Year 2023!

Malaysian Inbound Tourist Association (Mita) president Uzaidi Udanis (pic) said China's decision to scrap quarantine measures for travellers is hoped to bring in about three million travellers next year.

Uzaidi said Chinese tourists are an important contributor to the country's economy as they are known to be big spenders.

Why value investors should not miss Genting, Gem of 2023?

First of all, in the midst of economic recession, cash is king! Genting Berhad has cash per share of 5.97 with book value of 8.20 per share. To boost the cash reserve, Genting Berhad is going to auction off Miami property, which it acquired in 2011 for $236 million. This Miami property worth more than $1000 million at current market value.

Next, China's move to ban gambling activities throughout the country with the exception of Macau. In addition, China government abolished the Zero Covid Policy. This means that the citizens no longer need to be quarantined, and likely to boost citizens' travel to other countries, including Singapore/ Malaysia, home to one of the leading casinos in the region. 

After the tight restrictions of movement for two years, personally expecting China's high rollers would demonstrate retaliative spending and gambling at casinos in Asia. Singapore/ Malaysia will get the largest slice of the pie despite competition from neighbouring countries like Australia and Philippines because the locals in Singapore/ Malaysia could speak mandarin, apart from competitive advantage on currency exchange.

Even in this time of writing, all hotels under Genting are all fully booked at premium price (at least double price compared with pre-pandemic rates) and premium outlets are also packed with visitors. This clearly see the post-pandemic retaliatory spending nature of the citizens mainly from Malaysia and Singapore. Simple imagination and entry level math calculations would bring you to this conclusion that Genting business will become even more lucrative with the influx of tourists from China.

Not to forget, Genting Berhad holds 20.33% TauRx Pharmaceuticals Ltd. Interestingly, TauRx has submitted its Alzheimer’s drug for regulatory approvals in the US and Canada. Assuming TauRx worth US$15 billion (RM67.50billion), and in this time of writing, Genting Berhad traded at RM4.50 per share with market capitalisation of RM17.41 billion, then Genting Berhad shares should worth more than RM8 per share.

All in all, Genting will be the one of the best investment in 2023. Creme de la creme!

Just GE15 result out local institution net selling total 93mil of GenB share and all scooped by retailer. Unfortunately, PH form a unity gov and local institution loss big on the bet. Until today only Foreign institution mopped up small portion of 16mil net GenB share.

USD3.3B budget for sales and marketing??? Seems more likely sales commission kickbacks to doctors who dare to prescribe ineffective and dangerous Aduhelm to their patients.

I think Biogen/Eisai already spent close to US$100m on PR of Lecanemab hence all the positive headline news around the world. Unfortunately Taurx does not have that kind of money and budget to burn on PR, lobbying groups and key-opinion-leaders, etc. We only have the science and safety profile to back us. Phase 3 MCI 16mg patients at 18 mths can totally halt decline plus REVERSAL is what the world needs now to stop AD pandemic.
