After 6 consecutive quarters of net losses, Berjaya Corp returned to profitability this quarter. We announced 6% revenue & 546% pre tax profit increase, boosted by better operating performance and divestment gains

To understand the numbers, must note that Berjaya Corp is an investment holding co. Our business is owning other businesses so our results are a sum of all our companies. Better they perform better our results.

In the past, Berjaya Corp was dragged down by loss making operating companies (that eat into the overall profitability pool) and also impairments as result of value diminishing or writedowns

When I took this job one a year ago we identified what companies were dragging us down (and why). We fixed some quickly, some will bear fruit next year. There were non core investments that we put under divestment group that we have been working hard to execute

Some of this effort required shutting down some overseas operations. These closures have taken a huge chunk of potential losses and importantly reduced significantly the annual cash outlay to keep these companies going

The results can be categorised by three factors:
? Post pandemic recovery - macro
? Internal streamlining efforts - to reduce & eliminate losses
? Operational efficiency - improving existing companies

BCorp?s financial success is the collective success of all our businesses being profitable. Thank you to all my colleagues for all their hard work

So many people go buy and hold, waiting for BJCorp to hit the target price of RM7 or was it RM10? BJcorp is too big and Jalil got no power... I think the straw that broke the camel back was Jalil wanting to sell off BJToto. or maybe revalue the land in BJLand, something the Tan family dont want. Why share when you can keep these cash cow to yourself?

According to BCorp's filing, Abdul Jalil has disposed of some 15 million shares in the conglomerate, trimming his direct stake to 3.318% or 171.57 million shares. The disposal took place via direct business transaction on Wednesday (March 16). On the same day, BCorp founder and largest shareholder Tan Sri Vincent Tan bought 15 million shares in the group via direct business transaction.
