Interim dividend will be announced within the next few days but I doubt we will get more than 4 sen per share.

Likely very poor quarterly results will be reported tomorrow, otherwise they won't wait until the last day.

Keck Seng struck gold again in its share investment. Net investment in shares during the first half was RM7.6 million but total value of investment securities increased by RM134 million.

"Come Fly with Me"..?

NTA still increased by 24 sen even after setting aside 6 sen for final dividend payment.

Posted by prudentinvestor > 2017-09-20 23:05 | Report Abuse

Ringgit is moving up against the US$, Keck Seng is suffering from foreign exchange losses again in the third quarter.

Come Y.E. 2018, Keck Seng, founded in 1968, would commemorate with special bonus/dividend, we expect.

50 year anniversary, hopefully can pay 50 sen per share dividend.

Following the historical trend on Keck Seng past Bonus Issues =
Nov.1995 and Mar.2011, both 1 for 2, time is now ripe for a Bonus Issue in 2017 or 2018, + that special 50 sen special anniversary we look forward to, will reward the loyal and patient share holders.

No worries! This stock is highly undervalue n cash rich!

Posted by leslieroycarter > 2017-10-31 15:43 | Report Abuse

No such thing as undervalued , this one is market value. Do not fat hope of special div 50c or RM 1 coz there were many instances where the co had forfeited the tax rebates of more than 400 millions not claimed back though we were entitled but the co chosed to forgo to Inland Revenue. Then it has accumulated cash rezerves of more than 1 billion after disposing its asset in Singapore. Minority shareholders had waited year after year but nothing happened. All are reserved to pay hefty pay n allowances to the directors. Can forget bonus as well coz to them no point at all. I think they will take private by offer RM 2 way below market value. This as minority shareholders, we just cannot do anything. All point to doom.

Posted by prudentinvestor > 2017-11-01 13:06 | Report Abuse

The management should divest of loss making divisions instead of stubbornly clinging to them. Also smart people won't keep so much cash in hand and worst of all, keep it in foreign currencies which are falling against the Ringgit right now.

What happened? Price keep shòoting down!...What is the bad news?

Posted by prudentinvestor > 2017-11-01 15:31 | Report Abuse

The bad news is the manufacturing division is going to lose money again and the company will again suffer from foreign exchange losses. The good news is it has RM1.1 billion cash and has plenty of grossly undervalued assets which if revalued will register surpluses which run into billions.

I believe some buyers are deliberately pushing down Keck Seng's share price to cause frustration and fear among small investors so that they have the chance to buy Keck Seng at lower price.

Prices of Keck Seng in the past have never behaved this way as it is not a "speculative" stock. Support is weak and sellers are eager to sell in blocks eg>> "12:24:03 PM - 4.500 - 20,000 Seller"...put up for sale after opening prices at 4.80. Which trader in the right mind would want to push prices down on a stock like Keck Seng hoping to buy at lower prices unless with privileged information.

Posted by leslieroycarter > 2017-11-02 15:20 | Report Abuse

At this price , those who hold for many years were badly trapped, unless you have plenty of cash n do not know how to spend then buying kseng can be viewed as a long term investment.

Posted by prudentinvestor > 2017-11-02 16:13 | Report Abuse

Keck Seng's directors and parties friendly to them already control over 60% of the company. No one can wrest control of Keck Seng from them. That is why this bunch of conservative people keep doing things their own way.

Posted by Jonathan Keung > 2017-11-02 16:19 | Report Abuse

kseng is value rich. plenty of reserve but very conservative. burning the tax credit was a big dispointment. The major shareholders ( Ho family ) so damn rich they could have use the tax credit for the minority shareholders. Dont expect too much on the dividend

Posted by prudentinvestor > 2017-11-02 16:27 | Report Abuse

If Keck Seng was in the hands of more proactive people like EcoWorld's Liew or Mah Sing's Leong, I am sure its share price would be above Rm10. Now we can only hope that these two companies run out of development land soon in JB and start buying land from Keck Seng. This will give Keck Seng a big boost.

Comparing with United Malacca (almost like business, both "Plantations", Umcca has support from EPF and the Foreign Funds (please see the announcements lately in change in substantial holdings)....and because of the continued buying, Umcca is moving up. Why has Keck Seng been side-lined if it is "so good for long term investment"?

Re that "tax credit", was it an "oversight" or was there a reason for the Company not claiming the benefit so that that the Company may get other benefits in return. Was this question ever raised in the AGM?

Posted by prudentinvestor > 2017-11-17 14:41 | Report Abuse

Keck Seng's total foreign exchange losses so far this year may already have exceeded RM 45 million. It could be Keck Seng's worst performance in years. Please buckle up and wait for the shocks.

Posted by prudentinvestor > 2017-11-17 14:59 | Report Abuse

If the Ringgit keeps rising, say to 1 US$=RM4, Keck Seng's total foreign exchange losses for the whole year may come up to RM 65 to 70 million if there was no change in its foreign exchange holdings since 31-12-2016. Too bad, as Keck Seng investors, we have to hope that our economy performs badly and our Ringgit drops drastically.

Posted by prudentinvestor > 2017-11-24 15:20 | Report Abuse

It looks like we are on a sinking ship called Keck Seng. As at 31/12/2016, Keck Seng had net exposure to the following currencies:-

US$ - RM 504.4 million
Sing$ - RM 224.9 million
Canadian$ - RM 58 million
Aus$ - RM 42.5 million

Since 31/12/2016, the US$ has dropped from RM 4.486 to RM 4.121, Sing$ has dropped from RM 3.099 to RM 3.06, the Canadian $ has dropped from RM 3.337 to RM 3.239, the Aus$ has dropped from RM3.231 to RM 3.14.

Result show minimal profit almost break-even but NTA increased to RM6.49 after 3rd quarters. Can any financial or accounting experts deliberate on such accounting treatment. Cheers!!!

Posted by prudentinvestor > 2017-11-30 12:35 | Report Abuse

If you look at the value of its investment securities, they have increased by 155 million since the end of last year or roughly 42 sen per share.

Posted by prudentinvestor > 2017-11-30 12:47 | Report Abuse

If Keck Seng's directors continue to do nothing to negate the bad effects of a rising Ringgit which causes it to suffer huge foreign exchange losses, small investors should attend its AGM next year in droves and clamour for their resignation.

http://www.mswg.org.my/....would they be able to help with a "stronger" voice? No...not to clamour for their resignation..impossible!..Press them with the policy to set aside 50% of their annual profits for dividends, instead of hoarding cash and more cash, which if not made to good use for growth is poor and inefficient management.

Ah Seng just like a piece of gold brick.
It is valuable but too costly to hold it and no much return except self feeling proud on it.
