Gains in the ringgit, the currency of trade for palm, usually make the edible oil more expensive for foreign buyers.
consequence will be lower price.
so for fgv and exporters to gain a weaker ringgit is a blessing

@dam82....let calculate our self how much will the cost incurred. Do not just pointing finger to Felda. Anyway, Felda got nothing to do with FGV, they are different entity.

Replanting cost : RM 15,000 (estimated based on the story)
Clearing of old trees : RM 5,000 (estimated based on the story)
Monthly Allowance for 3 years : RM 2,500 x 12 months x 3 years (due to lost of income until new trees bear fruit)
Total cost : RM 110,000 (excluding other charges).

So if you have 100k and to loan someone for replanting, how long you think to recover back your money (i believe you will charge interest as well right).

Correct @Ring, based on my calculation of 4% interest, if using 110k for replanting, require at least 10 years to recover back. This is because settlers still enjoying the monthly allowance till fully payback.

For info. Replanting cost from clearing to maturity 3 yrs is about rm 20k - 25k per ha. With average yield profit/ha normally 6k. Will take 4 years to recover cost after maturity.

Good replant will give an average yield of 12- 16 mt at 1st year maturity. More if added crop from early harvesting during immature stages. Second year close to 20 mt or more and 3rd year onward 25mt above and above 30mt after that. I guess 24 mt will be fair average for 4-5 years after maturity.

Would be surprised if tomorrow's results is very good, suspect more likely so-so only or possible quite weak. But FGV is not about short term earnings. It is about how much it is worth once the new A-z team put it back on growth path. However, recent palm oil price and news negative so need to have invest for medium term. Keep eye on big picture and Happy Investing! Hehe

Felda_Settlers, try find a new one lah, that one is old article, more than 1.5 yrs ago.
Inside, he mentioned why Najib chose the previous chairman, but the fact is, this was not the case. He let the chairman perform his duties, and if he is proven a failure, in the end he is replaced, with a better one.
Basically PM let a person do his duties without interference and solve problems. Only replace if the people want it.
In fact, Musa say should interfere, replace etc without valid reasons, but at the same time, he says gov should not interfere. Even i am confused!
Now, where are the professionals that LGE say he will put in Penang>?
