If I were Vladimir, before eventually agreeing to a further production cut, I would first be saying to Prince MBS, "Uh huh, so now you guys have wised up big loads it seems, but I can still remember, it was only four years ago when ya all were so madly intent on driving up production & making oil price crash down from 100+ to 40, perhaps you even wanted to kill my country's economy that time."

Or perhaps, it could also be possible that, in saying that he is 'fine' with US$60 Brent, Putin is actually signalling to Donald Trump that he had better stop playing any more dirty tricks to try drive Brent below US$60, or Russia will begin working seriously with Saudi to drive Brent back up to US$70 or US$80. Who knows.

This is just my gut instinct. Combined also with some of the stuff that I have read. It's the OPEC-Russia axis, or Saudi-Russia axis, kind of doing their work on the quiet, keeping Brent around the US$60 level. With very little official publicity.

They can't drive it back up dramatically, becos that might trigger an overly aggressive backlash from Donald Trump. So they kind of work it in gradually. So, maybe something more like 25 - 50 cents a month, rather than a dollar a day kind of thing.

Saudi wont repeat its mistake back in 2014. Trump is trying to shake them by causing trade war and oil supply. The fact behind is trade war itselfs manifest on the US citizens, tariff on China and US factories means higher price on products, we may see inflation coming soon .
