Why BIOHLDG become my FIRST investment in Malaysia stock market? (Part 2)

(This post is the continuation of 'Why BIOHLDG become my FIRST investment in Malaysia stock market?' Part 1)


4) Plant expansion programme

Currently, BIOHLDG main production plant in Bangi, Selangor is reaching an utilisation rate of 80% by end of this year. While refurbishment and expansion for this plant has already began, a new production plan in Pasir Raja (next to the agriculture land) will commence its operation by 1Q 2019. These two expansion are expected to increase 50% of current capacity over the next 2-5 years.

5) Land clearing to grow agriculture business

BIOHLDG land bank for plantation is ~1,200acres (300acres in Desaru, Johor and ~900acres in Pasir Raja, Terengganu). To date, only 300+ acres of land has been used for plantation. BIOHLDG is planning to clear the rest of the land for its 2nd phase planting (200acres by end of this year) which will boast its production to 2,000 tons by 2020 (currently at ~400 tons).

6) Pharmacy expansion programme

BIOHLDG owns a portfolio of 15 pharmacy with a brand name Constant. Constant Pharmacy are mostly located in Terengganu and Kelantan where Muslim population density are relatively high. BIOHLDG plans to open 10 more pharmacy through franchising in the next 6 months. BIOHLDG also opens for opportunity to acquire retail pharmacy chain with 2-50 outlets. This is fully possible as BIOHLDG is now a net cash company with RM12million cash in hand.

7) E-commerce frenzy

In 2017, BIOHLDG launched e-Constant (eC) which allows customers to buy pharmacy healthcare products online and register as referral agents. The said agent will own an eC virtual shop and sell the products through a referral mechanism. This project is between Constant Pharmacy and Angkatan Koperasi Kebangsaan Malaysia Bhd (Angkasa) members only (under 70:30 JV). Angkasa is the national co-operative organisation of Malaysia with 12,000 co-operatives and eight million members nationwide.

Also in 2017, BIOHLDG started its presence in Alibaba B2B platform as Gold Supplier. This year, BIOHLDG announced that they are in the midst of searching for exclusive internet platform partner to establish its B2C channel in China. This will accelerate the process to educate local consumer on BIOHLDG products.

8) Synergy from recent NWE acquisition

BIOHLDG recently made an acquisition of North West Enterprise (NWE), one of the leading hotel amenities distributors for hotel industry in Malaysia. While the exact amount of the acquisition is not disclosed (BIOHLDG recently made a private placement of RM24million), it is believed that BIOHLDG can make use of NWE extensive client base to sell its products such as herbal tea or other herbal related products.


Conclusion

As you can see in the previous section, it is easy to understand that the grow factors for BIOHLDG are promising. Each segment in its value chain has plenty space to grow and will start to contribute to its top line revenue very soon. Despite medical approval in China and Indonesia may still come in play as a significant challenge to BIOHLDG, I am still very optimistic that there is huge potential growth in (Halal) herbal-based health supplement market, resulting me to make the decision to invest in BIOHLDG.

KUALA LUMPUR: BioAlpha Holdings Bhd plans to increase the production of its pharmaceutical products and also open more “Constant” pharmacies across the country.

CIMB Equities Research said it was positive on the plans and maintained its earnings per share (EPS) forecasts and target price of 44 sen (last traded price 24 sen).

“This is based on an unchanged 20 times FY19F P/E, at a 20% discount to our 25 times consumer sector target P/E for 2019F. The stock remains an Add.

“A potential catalyst is strong, sustained domestic revenue growth. A downside risk is export revenue remaining weak,” it said.

CIMB Research said on Oct 5, it arranged for seven fund managers to meet BioAlpha’s managing director William Hon and CFO Goh Siow Cheng.

It said during the meetings, the fund managers focused on BioAlpha’s proposed acquisition of a majority stake in North West Enterprise Sdn Bhd (NWE, Unlisted).

NWE manufactures, trades and supplies hotel amenities and personal care products to major hotels in the country.

“The due diligence process on NWE is ongoing. BioAlpha likes NWE’s distribution business that caters to the major hotels across the country and the company believes it could sell in its own-brand products (Tongkat Ali and Kacip Fatimah teas) to tourists staying at these hotels,” it said.

NWE also has a personal care product division, which BioAlpha lacks. In CIMB Research’s view, BioAlpha could launch its own personal care products with NWE under its umbrella.

“BioAlpha intends to open more ‘Constant’ pharmacies across the country in 2019F. The company now has 20 pharmacies (eight self-owned and the remaining 12 held by
franchisees).

“The company is looking to launch 16 new Constant pharmacies nationwide by end-2019F. If successful, we think this would be positive for sales of its own brands, which would be stocked by the Constant pharmacies.

The research house also noted that as BioAlpha’s factory was operating at 80% utilisation rate, BioAlpha building a new factory in Pasir Raja, Terengganu and upgrading its main factory in Bangi.

When combined, the new and also upgraded plants could boost group production capacity by 50% at end-1Q19F and cater to the expected strong domestic orders in future.

BioAlpha expects its 300-acre herbal park in Desaru to be fully planted by end-2018F and the research house expects the park to be profitable in 2019F onwards.

“For 2019F, BioAlpha targets to produce 1,000 tonnes of herbs and plants from the Desaru and Pasir Raja herbal parks,” it said.

Is the pp already done after the announcement in early October but as usual reporting late to Bursa ? Normally after the placement of the shares, the depositor need to maintain at least or above the placement price for an agreed period. Do correct me if my understanding is wrong. Thank you.

KUALA LUMPUR (Oct 18): Bioalpha Holdings Bhd is teaming up with China's Jinrui Fortune Holdings Group Bhd (JRFH) to promote Bioalpha's products to the China market.

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia today, Bioalpha said its wholly-owned subsidiary Bioalpha International Sdn Bhd has entered into a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Shanghai-based JRFH on the proposed collaboration.

"The MoU will provide an opportunity for the parties to establish collaboration based on the respective party’s expertise and strengths. Furthermore, it provides an opportunity for Bioalpha Group to promote its products to the China market," it added.

Under the MoU, Bioalpha will promote and sell its products to the China market through JRFH's platform, which provides consultation given by top traditional complimentary medicine (TCM) practitioners in China and provide the suitable TCM to the patients.

Bioalpha said it will also participate in JRFH ChenZhou (Hunan) Integrated TCM project, which include the development of a herb farm, a Good Manufacturing Practice-certified factory and a product research and development facility.

Bioalpha will also participate in JRFH project to develop eco-health tourism in ChenZhou City, Hunan Province, China, it added.

At 2.31pm, Bioalpha shares were unchanged at 25.5 sen today, with 133,000 shares done, bringing a market capitalisation of RM206.55 million.
