Guan Chong unit buys 10pc of PT Asia Cocoa

Guan Chong Bhd's (GCB) wholly-owned unit, Cocoarich Sdn Bhd, has acquired 10 per cent stake in PT Asia Cocoa Indonesia.
In a statement to Bursa Malaysia today, GCB said upon completion of the acquisition it would hold 100 per cent stake in Cocoarich.
"Cocoarich will then become a wholly-owned unit and PT Asia will in turn become wholly-owned unit of Cocoarich," it said.
PT Asia is involved in the cocoa, cocoa mass (cocoa liquor), cocoa butter, cocoa cake and cocoa powder business.
GCB is engaged in investment holding and provision of management services. -- Bernama

Guanchg has set up a new coca grinding plant with annual capacity of 60000 tonnes in Batam. This new operation would require higher inventory of raw cocoa beans and also resulting in the holding of substantial WIP & finished products. The finished products are cocoa powder & cocoa butter. In the past one year, the global demand for cocoa powder was very strong while the demand for cocoa butter was weaker. This different demand for the two output resulted in increased holding of cocoa butter.
