The KL Monorail Fleet Expansion Plan,
undertaken by Syarikat Prasarana Negara Bhd (Prasarana), is proceeding smoothly
according to schedule.

Prasarana Group Director for Rail Division Khairani Mohamed said the first
sets of four-car trains will be received by year-end.

"The new trains, which are of the Generation 2 type, comply with
international standards and are environmentally-friendly," he said in a
statement.

KL Monorail currently uses 12 two-car trains in Kuala Lumpur.
The new four-car trains can carry double the capacity, from 214 passengers
per car to 430 passengers per train, and are much larger than the current
two-car trains.

Valued at approximately RM494 million, the contract also includes upgrading
works on the monorail stations and the electrical and mechanical system.

It also includes construction of a new depot apart from the supply of
the 12 sets of new four-car trains.

Excuse me, but I'm bit confused. The Bernama report says the new 4-car trains can carry double the capacity...from 214 pax per car to 430 pax per train? Doesn't seem to equate...
