March 12: Ringgit opens marginally higher against US dollar

KUALA LUMPUR: The ringgit opened slightly higher against the US dollar today, supported by demand for the local note.

At 9am, the ringgit was quoted at 3.9020/9080 from last Friday's 3.9100/9140.

Meanwhile, the local note was traded mixed against a basket of other major currencies.

It fell against the Singapore dollar to 2.9664/9719 from 2.9653/9694 last week, and weakened against the British pound to 5.4054/4141 compared with 5.3997/3060 on Friday.

Vis-a-vis the yen, the local note was higher at 3.6481/6547 from 3.6610/6662 previously, and was better against the euro at 4.8018/8104 from 4.8093/8158. -- Bernama
