Dato' Amiruddin has over 30 years of experience in finance and management. He began his career in 1989 as an Accountant Executive in UMW Toyota Berhad (UMW). After he left UMW in 1990, he pursued his career as an Accountant in Boustead Holdings Berhad, where he served for two years until 1992. He later joined INC Sdn Bhd, a subsdiary of Lembaga Tabung Haji as a Finance Manager until 1994.

In KPJ Healthcare Berhad (KPJ), Dato' Amiruddin was a Finance Manager until 1996. He later assumed the role of Deputy General Manager in 1996 before becoming the Group General Manager in 2003.

Dato' Amiruddin was appointed as the Chief Operating Officer of KPJ in 2010 where he served the role for 2 years. During his tenure as the COO, he was also appointed as the Executive Director for KPJ in 2011. After leaving the role of Executive Director in 2012, Dato' Amiruddin was then appointed President and Managing Director of KPJ from 2013 until July 2020. 

He is currently the Director General of Federal Land Development Authority (FELDA) effective 15 October 2020.

Dato' Amiruddin is also the current Chairman and Independent Non-Executive Director in Ipmuda Berhad and the Vice President of Association of Private Hospitals of Malaysia and a member of Malaysia Advisory Committee.
