When users watch the video, they can share excess bandwidth that they dont use with the peers around them. At the same time, they can earn Theta Fuel which may be used to pay for the monthly subscription of video platforms.

 

This is a triple win situation whereby:
1) The consumer benefits ( Earns Tfuel to pay monthly subscription fees)

2) Video platforms save cost up to 50% or more

3) Increase in earnings for content creators. Users can directly support livestreamers or youtubers or content creators by donating Tfuel that they earned for free.

 

This is just the basic functions of Theta. It will also have smart contract support, decentralized data storage and VOD support.



 

Update :
Samsung is about to be announced as a Validator partner of Theta.

 

The Theta team is working on integrating this network into a regular Samsung Smart TV. Therefore, this may be the FIRST Crypto that could potentially reach mass adoption to the average user. (Therefore, this post might be related to you in future)
