KUALA LUMPUR (June 19): ExxonMobil Exploration and Production Malaysia Inc has appointed Dinesh Sivasamboo as its president, chairman and lead country manager of subsidiaries in Malaysia.

In a statement on Monday (June 19), ExxonMobil noted that Sivasamboo is the second Malaysian to be appointed to lead ExxonMobil’s Malaysian businesses.

ExxonMobil said Sivasamboo is to take over the position from Shane A Harris, who is set to assume the position of chairman and managing director of ExxonMobil Companies in Nigeria, effective July 1.

“Prior to his appointment, Sivasamboo was the managing director of ExxonMobil Kazakhstan Inc, representing ExxonMobil’s interest in Kazakhstan,” the upstream oil and gas group said.

ExxonMobil said Sivasamboo began his career with ExxonMobil in 1992 and has held various leadership, technical and business assignments in engineering, production, planning, safety, health and environment disciplines in Malaysia, the US, Qatar, Papua New Guinea, and Kazakhstan.

“He holds a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from RMIT University in Melbourne, Australia,” ExxonMobil said.
